... wounded." This was a turning point for Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce, who suffered near-extermination. It was a sobering morning in a gloriously and painfully beautiful place. After lunch in Wisdom (I wish the restuarant had a bumper sticker to match the t-shirt I saw: "I've got it! Wisdom, Montana") we drove a short distance to Bannack, an important gold rush town settled in 1863 and the site of many outlaw/vigilante ...
Dillon, Montana, United States linda_allen... alot of time outside in the cold, but I enjoyed the lack of "conveniences". It helped me to slow down a bit and realize how much we have around us that gets filled with the day-to-day jobs and responsibilites. We are now headed to Butte, MT and are looking forward to seeing what the Lord has for us in the next couple of days.

Then in July 1862, gold was found in the creeks and the first recorded mining claims were made in Montana Territory. By the spring of 1862 Bannack had a population of 3,000. In the evening I drove and slept in Dillon, Montana.

We watched Red Green build an elevator out of an old telephone booth and duct tape while we sat in the living room talking about family and our education. Living in Montana all these years, grandpa wasn't able to spend a lot of time with his grandkids in Iowa, nor were we able to take frequent trips to Montana. Spending time with them on this trip, then, was a ...
Dillon, Montana, United States brettski... He is intelligent but not really suited for the poor working class town, what I mean by justice, there is one bar/restaurant in town and he is 86'd due to I think obnoxious philosophy. He has a walled compound in this town and wonders why they don't really like him. How does a man find himself in a situation like this, a sad twist of Fortuna's wheel? He was gracious to me because i would listen and ask few questions, on the rare opportunity he tried to come up for air. He ...
Dillon, Montana, United States curiouspeteWe visited the only military memorial in the world that marks the place of a great defeat. This is Little Bighorn or Custer's last stand. We were treated to an hour long lecture on the battle. The lecture, instead of focusing on Custer, presented the battle from the side of the victors. We will always remember this place as the battle of the Greasy ...

The camp was closed, but the Dutchers', who live at the base of Mount Maurice, loaned us a key so we did get the opportunity to sample the expansive view of the Palisades from the Fanshawe Lodge Porch. We will always remember the generous hospitality the Ducthers' showed us. We stayed in Red Lodge and enjoyed a dinner at a local pizza place.
Red Lodge, Montana, United States jeffandmarieWell, here we are a little over a day from home! FINALLY! Two younger folks might be able to drive what's left in a day, but these 2 old fogey's have a hard time driving more than 8 hours a day! And the truck takes these "hills" at about 45 -- max. You really don't realize how steep they are until you're pulling a load. To catch you all up a little bit: After Dennis put new brakes on the truck in St Louis we really had a good day, even though we got a late start. We traveled ...
Livingston, Montana, United States budsgrandsThe school year is drawing to a close. Final preparations for our summer project in Rijeka, Croatia are almost complete. I'm a bit nervous as this is the fist time I've had the job 'director.' I'll probably survive though. My job is so interesting, never in my life have I been so challenged in my thinking and leading abilities. I'm praying for our team of 15 that we would be flexible as we encounter a new culture and full of faith in what God is going to do ...
