This scenic overlook on the ridge east of Vantage captures a panoramic view of the sculpture and the Columbia River Gorge. The last time I stopped here was in 2002 at the start of my motorcycle trip around the US. Hard to believe that one week from now will find us boarding a plane in Vancouver, B.C, where we'll fly overnight to Heathrow, arriving Monday afternoon. We're hoping to knock ourselves out on the flight with ZzzQuil, so we can wake feeling refreshed enough to enjoy our first stop - Avebury - on the way to our lodging for the first night.

Hopefully we won't suffer from jet lag too badly!

We arrived early afternoon it was a short drive. Randy greeted us with his usual good humor. Dee does not get off work until 5. He showed us around their place which is impressive. They have 20 acres which has its own pond, bee hives, 11 horses, 1 dog, 3 cats, large garden, large shop/garage, and great house. This is impressive and must take a lot of work. We had a wonderful prime rib ...

... through the hills, protected on both sides by the trees, twisting and turning through the valleys and taking us up to higher ground. We saw hills where there were sections of bare ground where the trees had been clear cut, surrounded by sections of young trees of light green and sections of old trees of dark. It was apparent that in Washington they replant after they cut the trees down. And they do it in patches. I am guessing it ...
