After all the speeches and videos, the au pairs were able to go for dinner together. We went to a bar for dinner and drinks, I left after I'd finished eating and got the metro back (nb - my host family own a flat in Hangzhou, so we stayed there Friday and Saturday night). ... week or two. She tests me from time to time on my Chinese and marks my characters with a red pen. She was only testing me with 1 word (the same word since I arrived - 'Xitang Hotel') but has now added 2 more to the list - hide and treasure which have annoyingly similar pronunciation. As I'm able to say all of 3 words to her perfect standards, she has branded me as clever hahaha.

... you are still looking out for the colour-blind few who are in too much of a rush to stop; secondly, you have the right turners who will always go whether there is someone crossing or not; and thirdly, e-bikes, scooters and motorbikes (who do actually have a whole car-sized lane to themselves on the road) now become pedestrians and drive along the crossings!
