... taller then then average man... Not sure if thats a chinese man or a western man but its still pretty freaking tall.
We then headed back to the bus station and headed for Mt Emei, a famous Buddist mountain. We stayed in the Teddy Bear hotel which was quite nice and wandered around for a bit before heading to bed.
Chengdu, China laszlo_rSo we get off the boat in Wanzhou and get a shuttle bus to the main bus station where we are put and I mean put on the bus. 2 aggressive old Chinese women shouting at us and manhandling us into our seats...... it was actually very funny. So 4 hours on a bus to get to our next location Chongqing where we where looking to catch a transfer to Chengdu.
Wanzhou, China dam... was a big impressive looking ferry at the bottom which i thought was going to be our vessel so i took a picture... It wasnt, we had this tiny little thing that looked like something off the thunderbirds let alone a boat!! On closer inpection our chariot was just a glorifired bus with just rows of seats and little shop, was expecting somehting a little more modern i have to say but we has no choice so put our bags down and stood in the small standing area, faces in ...
Wanzhou, China sneekybeeky... its glitzy marble and crystal chandeliered reception area and carpeted passenger decks, but the cabin accommodation was really 3* by western standards. Pure luxury for us though, now used to hostel life. The only real disappointment was the food, which was somewhat bland, more pretend Chinese food for tourists. Many were disappointed, including Tahira, who kept getting plates of boiled vegetables after she told them she didn't eat meat. In terms of ...
Chongqing, China mfinney... by half a million, the equivalent of all the people in Luxembourg being added to the municipal register. After gazing up at Chongqing's buildings waiting for the coach to depart we were soon off to Fengdu. I must mention the coach ride at this point as it was by far the worst road journey I have ever taken. China's roads are a mix of brand new motorway or completely shagged old roads with one constant - lunatic Chinese drivers. There are no traffic police to ...
Chongqing, China richardandfionaUp early again today to do our trip to Chongqing and onto our boat for the 3 Gorges. We organised the trip through our hostel 890 Yuan (62 quid each) for transfer to Chongqing, half day city tour and then two nights on board plus tours of Fengdu, Badai city and the lesser three gorges boat trip. Was going to do it all independently but was a good price and wanted to do it through a trusted source rather ...
Aanvankelijk dachten we ...
Chongqing, China jeroenlievens... leonidas.
ChongQing, China jeroenlievens... by about 2-3000 Chinese (me being the only white person)in the train station. Trying to buy a train ticket to take me through to Chongquing proved challenging - no English spoken, no English words, just those strange characters that they use to get by with. Somehow I managed to get myself a ticket and get onto the train though - it's all abit of a blur though. For the first time in my life I was overwhelmed ...
