... The floor is not flat, it's stoney and full of holes so carrying the bags around is a massive pain in the a** but we finally get settled at the hostel. It's nice and cosy, american style breakfast is included so I know I'll get my shot of bacon and eggs in the morning *intense joy*.

Train arrived at Lijiang Station, 6:30 am. Freezing conditions (-6 degrees that night) awaited us and it was still dark - it didn't light-up until 8:00 am. We booked in at the Maple Leaf Inn, in an old style built section of the city. The owner - Will, who is Dutch - came and met us at the Ornate Chinese Arched Entrance to the village. After a much needed night of sleep, I
went for brunch at this restaurant that serves western food and had a Club with fries! Some times you just need a break! I spent most of my afternoon writing this entry while people watching in the main square.

We managed to squeeze a little bit of sight seeing in on our second day in Lijiang before getting the bus to Qiaotou. We power walked up the cobbled steps to the 'Looking at the Past Pavilion', a relatively newly constructed pagoda perched on top of a hill looking over the rooftops of Lijiang.
