And we thought Madrid had good tapas...

Granada is a pretty crazy city, a mix of part Morocco, part Andalucia, part Jewish, toss in some tourists, tapas, and trendy shops and you´ve got a good city. When we arrived, we were fourtunate that our awesome hostel served dinner. Spanish meat (so yes, it was pig), cooked in a huge Paella-type pan with rice and some homemade sangria, and we thought we would never have to leave the hostel! (They had free breakfast and internet too). But, the ...

Getting my "blood" flowing!

... get pretty frustrating. I’m making an effort to be friendly and talk to them though. For example, tonight I made a point of sitting with 2 Spaniards at dinner, I asked them a couple questions and they responded but that’s about as far as the conversation went. After they left, though, another Spaniard came and sat with us and he was really nice so hopefully after some time everyone will be more comfortable with each other.

Strike one from my bucket list -- hello Granada!

... of the entire site, down to each room, was laid out in Pythagorean dimensions. The heights of the columns in this photo were exactly 11 times the diameter of the column. Did you know that the Caliph had a balcony where he could look down on the women’s bath and choose his evening dessert? He’d throw an apple to the lucky lady he chose. Her best hope was becoming preggers with his son. Ah, the ...

Oh Granada

... were we found out from the German girl who led the nature tour about the walk to the top of Sierra Nevada and was to take me on a three day fairly strenuous walking hike. However, more drinking first and that night I was on the roof where some princess American girls invited me to watch the sunset only to find someone better to talk too – lol – anyway, some nice American girls were avoiding the picture taking (too many when travel ling, Arch) and said we ...

... it the first night we couldn't find it. Seemed like it just didn't exist. It seemed way to dodgy for us and so we decided to find another hostel and stay their instead. We went for a walk through the old Moorish quarter and from the top of the hill there was a lovely view of Alhambra palace so that was nice. The next day we went to Alhambra palace. It would have been nice except for the freezing cold weather ...

Gorgeous Granada

... was certainly an experience. Most train or bus stations have a formal line for taxis. Not the Granada bus station. We eventually figured out that there was an "unmarked" line for taxis that people had started forming. It was crazy trying to get a taxi. People would just step up and other people would yell at them. The bus station was definitely the place to be. I could not believe how crowded it was that day. After a few minutes we ...

internet?

So... after days of checking, trying, halfheartedly.... I found an internet connection in my homestay apartement. I have never felt this happy with my computer in my life. I wanted to jump on my travelblog and record this exciting event. I have started my classes at the school, they are 4 hours a day for this month. The teachers are really nice, and the classes are interesting ...

The Labyrinth Revisited

It was hardly a surprise to me to find out that it was still raining. I didn't care anymore. I was on a holiday to see new things regardless the weather. Rainy weather can be good sometimes though; especially when there is a museum waiting to be explored. I am usually not a person to go to museums very often. Mostly because I find them boring, but once in a while even I can get impressed and actually enjoy to ...
