    ... are going to Kamloops this weekend which made me think of someone else I know who lives on Shuswap Lake, an hour or so past Kamloops, who told me that the Adams River salmon run is going to be spectacular again this year and this coming weekend is about the time it will be at its best.     Historical signs are often quite interesting regarding local events but I was especially pleased to come across the one at Champlain Park. Here, on Lake Nipissing, is where our Canadian explorers started on their way to the west. Can’t help but wonder what the countryside looked like then or the logistics involved in organizing for a trip into the unknown.     We were wet, the temperature was dropping, and the rain was not letting up, so we had to set up camp and retreat into our tent for most of the day and evening. That was not a fun day.
