... this was is that the town and seafront are on slightly different levels; probably about 40 metres different. We walked through the town learning of its origins; being foundered by Henry Pease as a village for his workers to find some recreation. He had Quaker beliefs so the village seemed similar to its midlands equivalent in Bournville. ... looking for a place for lunch.
We fond the Cobblestone Cafe in the centre of Grassington and we enjoyed the paninis with tea. As we were looking for a table another couple offered to let us share their table in the courtyard outside so we passed the time waiting for lunch chatting to a couple from Chesterfield who were staying nearby for a few days walking.

... and Pat and I joined Dave in the garden. There are so many starlings here, it's so nice to see them flying over, and on someone's roof, near Pat there were loads. Apart from a couple of heavy showers it's been a beautiful day, but windy. Later we all got changed and went to the Rose Tree pub for her birthday dinner. The weather today was supposed to be reasonable so, after a walk in the grounds of the Abbey, we set off in sunshine for a couple of visits to National Trust properties near York. The Abbey has opened a new orc************ on the other side of the river to the Hall and this is a grab meadow to wander through as well as giving great views of the Hall itself.
