A Day & Night in Hungary

*There is a pause in our busy itinerary of sightseeing and we now have several days of consecutive driving before we arrive in Bucharest.

*Heading south of Krakow we leave the flat countryside and head for wooded hills & mountains. The roofs become very steep, cut logs in outdoor storehouses & pertinent ...

      Tokaj and the rivers

Today we went to the town of Tokaj, where the rivers Tisza and Bodrog meet. It was fun to walk through the small quaint town, full of restaurants and wine cellars. The main street named after Count Rakoczi and had a statue of him on horseback. Interestingly there were several nautical references around town- I guess due to the close proximity of the rivers. We walked up to the main square with the towns church and a comical ...

We sat down to a wonderful dinner, including a great raspberry soup, made of raspberries from the bush in the garden. After dinner, while we did the dishes, my two cousins took a cat nap on the couch together like little boys.... Then it was time to head out to the Tokaj wine tasting that Eva had arranged ...

Today we met my uncle and mom at the Kelenfold transit station, close to where my grandparents used to live. My uncle borrowed my cousin's car as its bigger than his so our ride was nice and comfortable. It was nice to see the countryside on the way- we even had a little detour through a small town due to a road closure and we got to see lots of storks and their babies in nests that the city set up for them on top of power poles but away from the lines. We ...

      Medieval festival

Strolled around Takjo in the morning before heading off to Miskolc to attend a medieval festival at Diosgyor castle. It was a load of fun, with so many in character as if back in time. We watched several fighting displays before becoming in the mix of those dancing and playing music in the castle yard. As we were going round the stalls sampling the goods, we came across cheese in the form of string. We asked the guy ...
