Really really really enjoyed our homemade, baked fresh breakfast from Mamma Rosa. Fresh seasonal fruits, freshly baked chocolate croissants :), freshly baked bread with homemade jams and espresso coffee. Had a great chat with our neighbors, Gary and Terrell ... on their honeymoon from New York, both hairdressers on Broadway, worked with many of the big names. Gave us their email address incase we are ever in NY we can go visit them :) Then ...

Day 061: 6 hours, 13.0 kms

This is almost too easy: I get up in the morning, check my email as well as take a look at Google Maps to plan out my itinerary… grab my free breakfast… walk to the train station and catch a train to the spot where I ended my hike the day before. Our driver took us to the area where we met our tour guide for the Pompeii excavation site. Our guide was wonderful; She took us to the back entrance/exit to avoid the queue and the hoards of tour groups. Through the gates of Pompeii we entered the exercise yard and areas where the gladiators were housed. This entire ...

... really cool crabs here that blend in with the white and brown rocks. I almost stepped on one today getting in. On the walk back to our hotel we stopped at a snack bar for some cold drinks. Thinking we'll just grab a pizza from next door for dinner rather then bus it back in to Amalfi. Planning on going on a boat tour of the coast and Capri tomorrow. We're loving the air conditioning in our room here and hoping tomorrow is as nice as today.

... doing well. It wasn't until their match against Slovakia that it was determined they would not be World Champions again.

Enough about soccer and back to Amalfi. Despite the rain, we still wandered around the town and walked along the coast, admiring the great, stormy views. We soon realized that 2 days in Amalfi was more than enough if you couldn't go to the beach. It only took about half an hour to cover the shopping area, which was full of tourist ...
