Monday - off to the village of Amalfi

Monday morning saw us travelling from our very laid back Praiano to visit the village of Amalfi - about 10kms east and a very busy tourist destination.

We caught the SITA bus to Amalfi - with its fantastic views from each of the tight corners, as the bus made its way along this very narrow coastal road that clings to ...

... listening to that insightful conversation I realised they were talking about me "Yeah, I think she looks like she's English, I wonder if she's reading Twilight...". I said no...they found it hilarious and were oh so impressed that they had been right and I was English. At the end of the day, I find the nearest train station, ride back to Napoli, walk to the hostel, check Google Maps to see how far I went, set out my shoes ...

The technology of the time was fantastic, and we should be using some of it in our modern lives. In the bathhouse, there are double walls and a sub-floor where hot water would run, heating up the entire room to a ...

Early in the morning we sped away in a Mercedes Benz minivan heading south towards Napoli. We drove and drove and drove until we reached Napoli and the exit for Pompeii. Our driver took us to the area where we met our tour guide for the Pompeii excavation site. Our guide was wonderful; She took us to the back entrance/exit to avoid the queue and the hoards of tour groups. Through the gates of Pompeii we entered the exercise yard and areas where the gladiators were housed. This entire ...
