... 8221;. I had an assorted sampler appetizer for lunch for several reasons… it was one of three things I could find on the menu without seafood (and in the end it did have some fish in it!), I was saving room for dinner later and mostly because I had a Panna Cotta with my name on it this evening. This is almost too easy: I get up in the morning, check my email as well as take a look at Google Maps to plan out my itinerary… grab my free breakfast… walk to the train station and catch a train to the spot where I ended my hike the day before. Early in the morning we sped away in a Mercedes Benz minivan heading south towards Napoli. We drove and drove and drove until we reached Napoli and the exit for Pompeii. Our driver took us to the area where we met our tour guide for the Pompeii excavation site. Our guide was wonderful; She took us to the back entrance/exit to avoid the queue and the hoards of tour groups. Through the gates of Pompeii we entered the exercise yard and areas where the gladiators were housed. This entire ...

... which at the time was in disrepair.

The cornerstone for the new Duomo was laid in 1290 but construction was not completed for over a century. The fašade is seven stories high.

In the photos I have tried to capture some of the detail of the fašade which tells biblical stories from the creation of Eve to the temptation in the Garden of Eden, and of course more. The murder of Able ...
