Susie, Tim & Jake in Ketchum

... Ketchum town center. Biking is perfect! The valley is flat and wide with the mountains rising up all around offering majesty to the setting. According to the bike mechanic in town, Ketchum has "world class" mountain biking. It is the reason he lives here! We took the chairlift up to the top of Bald Mountain and saw that even up there bikers were enthusiastically riding the trails. "Out of their minds", is what we thought. For someone to even ...

Quick Stop in Sun Valley, Idaho

We stopped right outside of Sun Valley to spend a couple days routing our next stops. First annual invitational for NADRA Western Office Golf Outing has been established! (NADRA does not yet have a Western office, but after this trip we are considering it!) Mike Beaudry and friend, Lance Meller hit up the greens of "The Big Wood".

Arrival Sun Valley

4 Beautiful days of fun and great excercise! We stayed in a 3 bedroom Resort Quest Condo with nice view up warm springs and pleanty of room for 7 of us! We could walk to the lift at Warm Springs Lodge and at the end of the day enjoyed afternoons in the sun listening to live music. Loved the long, long, long runs at Sun Valley! Great food and great company. Some Sun Valley Info: Known as the "American Shangri-La ...

Snowshoeing in Circles

... Finally, we stopped, took out the booze and truffles and had our own mini party on the trail surrounded by snow covered pine trees, snow blanketed mountains and the full moon illuminating our surroundings. It was silent, freezing and beautiful. I reached for my camel pack water bladder, but it had frozen. We decided to return to the car, get some Mexican food and go home to our warm beds, which seemed more appealing than sleeping in ...

Skiing is fun!

... myself as they headed over to the advanced (black diamond) runs. It was very cold- at least for us and was snowing most of the time. It's so beautiful here with the snow glistening in the light. Next winter we'll have to spend more time in this area. We're pretty pooped, but John wants to rage tonight with some friends. I guess we'll have more relaxation time once we arrive in the Bahamas next week.

It's a winter wonderland!

We arrived Thursday in San Diego for a quick stop over to see my grandma (Mommom, as we call her). We did some last minute shopping for our trip - gotta love REI! We didn't have time to visit anyone other than our friend Zenaida who met us at my brother's gallery soon after we arrived. We had a nice dinner the Saturday night with my brother Grant, sister-in-law, Layne, dad and Mommom. It was great being together again ...

Hailey, Idaho

Although we had thought about heading back into Yellowstone this morning, we decided against it following news that the weather was still crummy up there. Yesterday was so cold and the wind blowing such a gale that it really made it very unpleasant. So, this morning Jude took herself off to the museum in West Yellowstone whilst I uploaded some pikkies to this travel blog. It was already aafter 11.00 when we finally got away and head off ...

Goodness In the Sawtooths

... surprising and good to know that managing your sluff would be necessary.
Jacobi and Catarina scooted through a pinner of a pinch and into another delicious finger couloir and apron.
Our day continued climbing up the South face of Williams, where some billygoated to the summit. The South Face of Williams offers long wide open chutes pierced with granite spires. Well over 2000 feet of vertical was easily accessed via bootpack in these spring ...

Yellowstone and Grand Teton

... is beautiful in an eerie sort of way. It's very odd seeing steam just rise out of the ground. Most of the places didn't smell much but there were a few like the sulphur pots and mud volcano that reeked. We didn't stay near them too long. As well as seeing geothermal things we've also been spotting wildlife. Although we avoided the bear whilst walking we did want to see one so we spent a lot of time bear hunting. What we discovered was that Yellowstone contains a large number of tree ...

Back To Teaching Tennis

Today we got up and I saw Dusty off because he had to go back to Portland, as he was finishing up a summer school class. I left with his family in the middle of the day, and had a very bumpy flight back to Sun Valley. I used this time to reflect on my short time in B.C., as well as the thoughts of being able to do more travelling like this in the future. See you soon.... Cheers
