The night of our arrival we enjoyed a cheese fondue with Monika's husband, all three children, and the son's girlfriend. ... hotel. Once we got settled, we walked out to the main shopping street called the Bahnhofstrasse. We passed a statue of Alfred Escher outside the station. I gather he was a railway pioneer and also a founder of Credit Suisse. We also passed a statue of Johann Pestalozzi, who was an educator and reformed the Swiss educational system. As usual in Switzerland, this is all pretty dull stuff.
