... just took it stoically and then kept about his business. And then as they family called him to come along he pushed the handle on his suitcase down and his dad asked if he wanted him to take his suitcase for him and he just said, short and sweet, 'Yeah.’ All four of us were giggling by this point enjoying the show, as were a few of our neighbours. It made my day to that point.

Leave it to the little kids to continue making my day. On the ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada adelleg... people with water guns, a sea lion show, and a replica of the Santa Maria (did they get that from St. Louis ?). The water park was even more spectacular. There were at least six huge water slides (spiral, straight, etc), all centered around a gigantic wave pool. The water park seemed to be far more crowded than the amusement park. There were plenty of shoppers in spite of the economy.
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada 2jgstl... sea lion fly through the air and then splash them with water. I watched it from the bridge that went over the artificial mini lake where the pirate ship sat. After the show I went and played with the remote controlled ships. I wasn't bad. I got the ship in its dock twice for only a $1 dollar spent. I found a store that sold only fishing gear. It was called the Fishin Hole. The girl who worked there was working there because her step father owned the store. She let me in on ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada mgraveli... be. Now that there are two of them, I am going to have to wise up to their "Fool the Human" games. The other day I walked in and caught Monster licking Button on the head lovingly. When they saw me they both froze as if they had been caught with their paws in the cookie jar. Ha! The jig is up, my pretty kitties! I am wise to your tricky ways. Now if I could just get SuperButton to realize she's not a bird or a plane...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada whereshegoes... estimate is that the wind coming off that glacier and blowing across my rain-soaked head was somewhere south of what would be classified as a tropical breeze. Just to give you an idea of the scale of this thing - The last picture shows the toe of the glacier and its lateral moraine. (The pile of rubble pushed off to the side of the glacier.) The height of the lateral moraine shows the former height of the glacier. About half-way up the ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada graybeard... much stuff there. Especially in the north, they burn the dried up cow patties for fuel and garbage. 3. The kids are really cute, and they talk to you, but demand pens lots of the time. So many cute little smiles with grabby little hands that need to be filled with a pen. I don't know who started this trend but maybe instead of buying pens donate money to an organization that provides things these little guys really need - like clean and ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada redde_stijl10 Days... That's all that stands between me and Europe. Slowly, I have been getting ready to go but there is a lot of stuff going on in this next week. All good stuff though. When the idea of traveling to and around Europe solo first crossed my mind, my initial thought was, "wow... that's unwise". And in a moment (or several) of insanity, this thought slowly grew into "Sure! Why not?". heh heh ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada speedbump151... got their fishing rods for Xmas. I think I wanted to keep it more cerebral because of the pressure I would put on myself to afford them a good time. There is nothing I love more than to see them happy...except to see them healthy. And it breaks my heart into a million pieces to see them struggle. And with love, you must let go to let them grow. This is I guess what parents must go through on a deeper level. Well, I suck at it royally. They are not even my kids but somehow they have made ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada whereshegoes... much sun. By the time I got home, I was absolutely exhausted. I had to lay down for just a minute which turned into thirty. I don't go to Starbucks often but there are those days when it has to happen. I have noticed the quality of their product declining steadily which is certainly making it easier to bypass the coffee giant. I did end up checking out the new store near my old house and getting myself my favorite treat, a frozen ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada whereshegoes... of minerals to be smelted. The Canadian north holds all sorts of secrets of natural resource extraction that go unnoticed to those of us that live in the south. Forestry just west of Flin Flon in Northern Saskatchewan had left its ugly stump over hectares and hectares of land. Although parts had been reforested the attempt had not yet reached maturity leaving a wasteland of barren, snow covered hills as far as the eye ...
