On Friday afternoon, 19th of June, Matt and I headed to Fire Island (a long, thin island that runs parallel to the Southern shore of Long Island.) Sylwia invited us along as some of her friends had booked an 8 bedroom, three bathroom place in the little town of Kismet. We had to get the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) to Bay Shore, a bus to the coast and then jumped on the ferry. It took a while to get there but it was definitely worth it! ...

... got out of the airport, we decided to rely on the GPS (christened Barb) to get us to Branford, on the coast of Long Island Sound. Apparently Barb thought it was better to completely skirt New York via the west, north and then east instead of getting on the I95 which would have been more direct but maybe slower (? through southern parts of New York). This was our last stop over as we drove to Massachusetts from Mexico. Only about 2 hours left &127 miles to go to get to New Bedford, MA, but we wanted to get a full nights rest and we wanted to arrive earlier in the day.
The entire trip will have taken us 10 days, 89 hours of driving time, 3, 000 miles. We dry docked 5 times at Walmarts, gas stations and 1 Chinese buffet restaurant parking lot, 1 hotel in Mexico and 4 RV Parks in the U.S.

    Friars Head

... experience at Friar’s Head, it is imperative that all golfers be committed to play expeditiously. The pace of play for a four-ball shall not exceed 3 hours 45 minutes. One awesome golf course, this place used to be a potato farm (maybe they grew Idaho potatoes), and Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore converted it into a top track. Some really good scores, probably the stay at home night with Lairdy's burgers did the trick. Broughy excelled with 38, Guy, Clavo, ...
