      ... friendly guesthouse politely informed us the fires would not be lit until 5.30pm. I went to bed, shivered in my -15C sleeping bag and was unable to sleep because of the cold despite my exhaustion. That night we met two very friendly Germans from Hamburg, Olaf and Elizabeth. Together we spent three hours huddled around a fire, while the cook Mama (a man) made us plenty of cups of tea.
