... This gets exacerbated when you do find a trail but it has a name that is not even on the trail map.
Thing is, none of this mattered that much. It was a crisp, clear day and the place was deserted. I sort of followed the three ponds trail and when I lost that I just headed up a petrified dune, found the west canyon road and headed for it. From there I wandered for a half hour and eventually stumbled across the lava trail ...
... I probably left the damn thing active and now half of Ca are fuelling at my expense! Fortunately a trusty Shell garage up the road took my card and gave me fuel without incident.
Me and the Gee-whiz then turned off onto a very narrow and gently ascending road going to Amboy and beyond. There is so little life on this road that it continues to surprise me how many houses there are and also the state that they are in – in fact many of them ...
... I bought some runners for $30, and they sell Clinique, but I had to buy a coupon for $35, and come to a special opening tomorrow night so that I can SAVE $25.... The $35 is really an investment in a purchase, and they give you a $25 gift certificate and multiple entries into various draws...but, there will be food there, and drinks...probably of the non-alcoholic variety. This is a strong Morman town. I've actually been listening to "Christ ...
St. George, Utah, United States turtletales... winds and a tent surrounded by sleet (snow and hail) our fingers and toes have been frozen since.... We are currentlly sitting in the library looking at the weather report for this area and for red rocks, nevada; we are going to try and decide what to do next!!
Love you all, look for us and some pictures and videos in facebook!
... on their way up. At a guess, perhaps 200. Thrilled I was up before the rest. Happy to be down. Just stand and stare at the landing from down here for a while. Then back on the shuttle. 10 minute intervals now. A bit better than earlier... Home to my patient and gracious family. Lots of stories to tell. Cass tells of their adventures. Apparently, the toilet backed up when Zac made an early morning deposit. The sights ...
Hurricane, Utah, United States cdcass... three nights until some of the weekend visitors head home and the pressure is off the parks. Because Salt Lake City and northern Utah received a considerable amount of snow today, snowbirds are delaying the trip north adding to the congestion. The people we talked with really seem to be learning the ropes but were quite accommodating. Once we were set up we decided that ...
St. George, Utah, United States momadunc... a waste!! It was really nice and relaxing driving through the canyon. We saw long-horned goats on our way in, then a bunch of deer all along the trails. We were only able to do two quick hikes because we had to go to Vegas, but it was still so beautiful and amazing.
New Harmony, Utah, United States kwrona... with excitable American tourists that surged through the night to Las Vegas, then to another bus that doubled back and wound north into morning and into Utah. And finally to St George, Utah. I was dropped in a McDonald's carpark. St George is a very different place to Salt Lake city. the ride between the two is a gradual, percent by percent transition from the red deserts of the south to the grey stoney mountains of the north. In St George the heat was sweltering. On my ...
St. George, Utah, United States philiad... We've been driving forever!" "Are we going to get to Costa Rica today?" I'm grateful for technology and our new DVD player- that helps the time pass easier. We relaxed in the hot tub when we arrived at our hotel, then tried to go out to eat, but everything was closed! So we ordered a pizza instead. Tomorrow we'll head to Zion National Park, and then maybe to the Grand Canyon. Livin' the Dream, Baby!
St. George, Utah, United States travelinfam... All in all, it was a beautiful but exhausting experience. One interesting note was that the temperatures at the summit were as low as the teens and highs at Phantom Ranch were in the 50's. The 5 hour drive to Zion through Page traverses some of the most scenic areas of Arizona and made the drive as pleasurable as we could have hoped. Upon entering Zion Park, Zoe started gesticulating wildly and I soon saw why. Four bald eagles were just off the road surrounded by ...
