Many of the Japanese cities we visited had mascots, but this city's mascot was the best of all - a white cat wearing a Samurai helmet and red cape. No sword in sight though, so I am guess that this is a pacifist Samurai cat. (check out video).

Those tourist attractions are in Fukui City and another tourist attraction Eiheiji Temple was close to them, but it was in Eiheiji Town. The temple is famous for their hard zen practice and I expected to see some monks practicing hard, but all I saw in the temple were cleaning monks.
