Nagano and Matsumoto

... museum(free entry with castle ticket) which had some decent samurai armour, swords and guns. I then had a wander around Matsumoto which like Nagano moves at a much slower pace than Tokyo and for that reason has a much more relaxed feel.

I then headed back to my hostel in Nagano and had a rest ahead of visiting mt fuji tomorrow and the 4 hour train journey.

Plans changed slightly because of imminent arrival of typhoon. Wake up 6.30. Breakfast-buffet. Coffee,juice,eggs,croissants,fruit and strange sausages. Left bags before 8.30 so they could be forwarded on to Tokyo (hopefully will see it next on Monday night). Ok when left Dormy Inn, started with light rain then got steadily heavier. ... her camera but she may have to upgrade. The fixed lens was limited as the zoom range was not terribly long with her Sony RX100 camera. Despite this, most of her photos turned out quite well.

It had started to drizzle slightly so we only walked a few meters more before deciding to turn back. The return leg was much quicker than I had expected as we did not stop for more photo sessions. Maybe we should have walked all round the lake ...

... level of the shopping centre as all the restaurants had a long queue. It was peak lunch hour. The only downside was there was no place to sit and eat. The Japanese do not eat in public except for an ice cream. Unfortunately, the only option was to eat in the hotel foyer or out in the open at the quadrangle outside the hotel.
