... Amazing. A trip to a lavender farm and the cathedral at St. Albans today then dinner at Cowper arms where I ate the most delicious Cajun chicken with char grilled vegetables. Paula and Gary's son Greg, his wife and daughter met us. I haven't seen Greg since he was 8 years old. Paula told me there are a few famous people in the area. ... 3 that the cat has brought into her house. We had a really good walk around the botanic gardens or so we thought, but we had missed out a few acres. This was a quiet Sunday morning though not really intended to be so. We took a bus to Hyde Park which was great, a double-decker so we could see lots: buildings, shops, gardens, people……… but it was well and truly held up by traffic snarls due to an enormous charity fun run/walk involving lots of different causes, and in the end the bus stopped and we changed to another which took a different direction to Hyde Park. Saturday we were up bright and early, having arranged to meet Vince and Tony in Northumberland Avenue in a café for breakfast. Coincidentally it was across the road from the Citadines where we stayed in 2004 thanks to a good staff discount from NZ Defence, and not far from New Zealand House which we visited and got to go up to their rooftop entertaining area which has a 360 degree view of London – amazing.
