      Today we stopped in the Dominican Republic for about 10 hours, docking at 8 am and departing at 6 pm. We took a short, guided tour of the Zona Colonial, the old capital where Don Diego Colon, son of Christopher Columbus, established the first, and hence the oldest, European city in the Western Hemisphere. The teachers told them people were on their way with presents and they needed to sit and be on their best behavior.
