... surprised by the beauty of landscaping, and blossoming trees. We are just at the tail end of the spring bloom and are loving the magnificent colours and now “snowing” petals from the trees. We walked the grounds before heading back to the main Bamboo grove walkway. ... thought I'd probably leave there disappointed, and there's a chance I'd also leave hungry.
I was right.

When we entered, we were greeted by the hipster Japanese maitre d', with his oversized black rim glasses, silly little bowler hat, and attitude like he was too cool to look interested in serving us. It took me a few seconds to be sick of him, and I couldn't even understand what he was saying.

... but I think I fixed it! I then organised all my stuff. I'm a bit worried about my suitcase to be honest, it turns out I have bought more than I thought! So that will be interesting trying to fit it all in there and keep it under 23kg.

It was raining today, so I wasn't looking forward to biking to school. Most people here can bike one-handed with an umbrella in the other hand, but I don't think I'm so skilled. But ...

... Saturday. I am super excited for this, not only for the theme park, but also to see a familiar face and speak some English for a change.

At about 8pm, I said to my host parents that because of the time difference, it was already my birthday in New Zealand (would have been midnight-ish at home). So because of this, they decided we should sing and have cake then! I had my birthday the night before my actual birthday.

... time, I was nearing 50 minutes and figured I had my route sorted without a short out and back trip elsewhere. That let me switch off route finding and concentrate on passing and then putting away the local just up ahead. I finished with a half lap of the castle to take me over the hour and a half and then ran back. Job done, boy that felt a virtuous start, 14 miles in the bank. It was noticeably cooler at 7 than the day time, though obviously warming up as time went on. ...
