... lift; another smelled like an ash tray with an old air conditioning unit that had a remote attached to a wire like an 80's VCR. It's all part of the adventure. At least we weren't out in the stables. Our other hotels were big old colonial buildings with high ceilings and large windows so it all balances out in the end. ... at the front gate, to grab our bags and show us to our room. Much like the Ryokan ( traditional Inn) we slept on futons on the floor and had low tables to kneel at, for tea. The temple grounds were perfect Zen gardens, full of waterfalls and fish ponds.


We laid about drinking green tea, listening to the rain and reading our books. Lots of people go there for relaxation and I can see why. We had to be in our room at 5.30pm on the dot as the Monks were bringing our dinner ...

... Japanese and off we walked to the hotel ! Keeping up the tradition we dumped our bags and went to watami izakaya and ate too much ! Everyone was so new for my friend and overwhelming .. Finally crashing as we were so tired we wondered back ... So many people walking around ... Business people just finishing work at 1am it was very lively .... But it is so nice to be back in a familiar place with friends .... Can't wait for the next adventure ...
