On August 26th we arrived in Colorado, one of my favorite states in the USA. Shortly afterwards we went up to Rocky Mountain National Park which has snow covered mountains even in the summer time.

... 70 East signs showed no services for 105 miles. We stopped and got gas, etc. and headed onward. About 20 miles in all we could see to out left was solid black from the sky to the ground with multiple lightning strikes within the storm. Out here there are few underpasses and it was an uninhabited area as well. I will tell you with no shelter in sight I prayed multiple times that we would keep going towards our right and NOT left. I think god heard ...

A long drive today, but the scenery was well worth it. We stopped at areas where the Indians had built their homes in huge caves, And saw spectacular scenery all day. ... ride on the Colorado River. (later) A fabulous jetboat ride down the Colorado River. Going quite fast at times, and stopping to get a closer look at points of interest occasionally too. We saw a deer on the bank, and we also saw a big beaver. He looked like a wombat he was so big! Dinner at the restaurant was nice, and plenty of it too ! Decided to try to get to bed a bit earlier ...

... of Aspen was about five times bigger than our previous visit. Traffic congestion started at Buttermilk as one lane was reserved for buses and the other lanes had to merge. I remember the nice bus system where you could ski one resort in the morning and hop on the bus and quickly get to another in the afternoon. That must still work well. We stopped at the chamber ...
