On August 26th we arrived in Colorado, one of my favorite states in the USA. Shortly afterwards we went up to Rocky Mountain National Park which has snow covered mountains even in the summer time.

... people skiing were like pros and even the kids were good! There were some cuties that wouldn't have been older than three taking the lifts up and skiing down by themselves - MAD!! There is a great bar out the front of our hotel that looks out to the slopes called Vega Vega and we indulged in a cocktail or two for happy our after our days skiing.

All in all our ski experience was amazing and totally worth going five star all the way.

... at Grammar and we have followed his success over the last few seasons. Marion had been on the junior French Alpine skiing team as a youngster but now lives and works in Canberra. Stephen caught up with him after training and he was delighted to have a chat with him. Certainly surprised to meet someone from Australia who knew his sister.

Benny Reich from Germany was the quickest after the first run but was unable to back it up ...

Back to do it all again! Men's Super G on the difficult Birds of Prey Course at Beaver Creek.

Super G is like downhill but with a few more gates that the skier has to pass through. Unlike downhill though they do not get any training runs on the actual course only a course inspection an hour or so before the start time. This adds to the challenge for the skier and excitement for the spectators as sometimes it all goes horribly ...

... as we made our way up the the newly built Red Tail Stadium at Beaver Creek. What a stunning view we had not just of the course but the surrounding mountains as well. The course was in perfect condition and the view from the stadium was great we we were able to see a large portion of the downhill run. There was a huge giant screen as well so that we could see the action close up as well.
