It was too late to get food at jain Bhojnalaya Entered a well maintained illuminated jain temple and had darshan. Made a long call to Rashmi in Hyderabad to know about Anurag 09.00 pm We took tea(in one no sugar no milk) at a road side ...

Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India sushilojha... stressing how these were his own mantras that he developed, and how if we get a chance to stay in Rishikesh again we should come stay at his ashram. We liked Swami a lot because he was so friendly and patient with us, but there was just something about him that was strange. He was a bit to eager to follow us around everywhere and the language barrier was just a little too much. After stressing to us several times about how he is not like the other babas who are only in it for ...
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India mattarah... of your bloodstream is 'purified.' I undertook this challenge with a fellow yoga student, Lindsey. She was very excited about it while I had some reservations. But, I decided to give it a go. I'll just say that I don't think it was my thing. I felt tired the whole time I was on it, regardless of how much rice I was eating. My teachers kept telling me that the next day I would feel 'it.' I'm not quite sure what 'it' was but I think it was supposed to be a big energy ...
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India courtenay... scene. I can not say enough good things about Rishikesh Yog Peeth. The food is good, the people are great and everything flows together nicely. The Yoga classes are really hard for a 46 year old pudgy guy. The encouraging thing for me is the young kids have a hard time too. I predict I will drop about 25 pounds and walk out of hear in good physical condition. We have yoga class twice a day where we perform the physical postures. Each session is for 1.5 hours. In-between ...
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India patoddcincy... for all it´s many contradictions and complexities, the one thing I can positively say about India is that it still IS India. It may sound overly simplistic but there is nowhere else on earth that still retains it´s own unique character and spirit to quite the same degree. It is like no other place on earth. It will challenge you, irritate you, even overwhelm you at times but it will also stun you with its beauty and culture and for that reason I am very glad I had a chance to experience it.
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India kealderraI've been in Rishikesh for 3 night now. I was going to head into the mts this morning but I didn't feel like waking up at 4:30AM, I'll wait till tomorrow morning. Rishikesh is better than the other cities I've seen thus far. The town is only about 200,000 and there are quite a few other travelers here. It's still dirty, loud, full of beggars- but on a lower level than the other cities I've been ...
Rishikesh, India quirk... I started looking for the best way to get to the station. As I was walking an Indian man joined me asking the standard questions and he took a particular interest when I couldn't answer how much longer I would be in India. Eventually we came across one of the shared rickshaws with the "#5" printed on the front. This was the one that passed right by the train station. We hopped on the crowded rattling chunk of metal and started weaving our way back to ...
Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India jonathanfoster... went to their center for non-wood products research, where they developed lots of different consumer products from trees and bushes, and sold patents to the govt. and industries. Some of their products were natural dyes, food additives, and chemicals (eg. Oxalic acid from the bark of a tree). They also had a garden outside where they were experimenting with composting techniques and medicinal plant gardening for farmers to ...
Dehradun, India adomingo4... so we stayed in another one, also on the bank of the river, but little bit…worse (same 350 rs). Next morning we walked trough market and found one good-English-speaking-gay, who had shop of expensive kullu shawls. He was sitting with laptop on the table, and told us some information about political situation in Russia. He also have hotel with 100 rs per simple room. (I still have his visit-card).

Anyway we left Rohru ...
