Ohh, Ohh Mexico! I love our Southern neighbor. I've been to border towns a few times throughout my life, but I have never seen the Caribbean. It was so wonderful and beautiful. And I will never forget it, hopefully!!
I took my 6 year old. From the airport we drove to Chichen Itza (about a two hour drive and a lot of pesos too) where we stayed at the most grorgeous hotel, the Hacienda something or other. The rooms were huge and cooled ...
We pulled out of Hart Ranch in South Dakota a couple of days early because of an anticipated cold front. We also changed the route we had planned on taking. Rather than going to Scotts Bluff, Nebraska we headed to Colorado. Strange as it may seem the weather promised to be better in the Denver area....
After about 400 miles, which is a ...
... to get out of the cab and in to my nice, airconditioned hotel room. Oops.. they couldnt actually turn on the air until my official check in time of 11:00, but they felt sorry for me and let me go lay down. A couple hours of sleep, some Pepto, and I'm good as new, and I venture out to Pratunam market. Now, this area is not for amateur shoppers...this is as hard core, pushing, shoving, bargaining as it gets. Pratunam Wholesale ...
Windsor, Colorado, United States sherrywirtz... requesting that he be present for an interview on the 16th at 10 a.m. This is a very good opportunity for Janis, so he had to take it. I am not sure what we will do in Denver, but once again, we will figure it out. Janis leaves tomorrow afternoon to SFO and returns back to Denver on the 17th. Hopefully when he gets back, we can make our way towards Mt. Rushmore.
We arrived in Loveland, Colorado just outside Denver ...
... this structure represented and the detailed craftmenship it took to construct the numerous stone figures. One of parts that made this journey to Angkorwat so fascinating was our enthusiastic local guide Chhay (pronounced Chai). He spoke very good English, was extremely educated about all of Cambodia's local tourist sites, and had a great sense of humor. He was ...
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States sarabart... A feat almost certainly related to the beauty of the city as well as the beauty of the surrounding desert. Butt-ugly suburban gated communities don't generally attract people whose work entails craft and a strong social and aesthetic sense. I drove to the center of town and began my search. The car needed fuel. Collecting oil in the downtown area wasn't a great idea but I couldn't go to Santa Fe and not see the galleries and architecture. Even if it was just to walk or ...
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States hodizzle... commenced a year or so of traveling in the US and in Europe and maybe some other places, too. The plan is to work along the way in cool places and to take breaks in between. Since I will be working in cool places, I am going to consider both working and nonworking times as travel. The plan is to work for the summer in North Carolina, vacation, work for 6 months in the UK, vacation, and then work in North Carolina again. Then who knows.
Thanks for reading this, my (latest) blog!
We arrived at about 1AM at my aunt's house in LaSalle, just outside of Greeley. Today, I'm off to buy a laptop, luggage, and an assortment of things I will need for a year. It's hard to just think about everything you need. How can you sit down and say, "Well I will need this and this and this and this and this..."? So I decided to go about ...
Greeley, Colorado, United States snake0721... while I would like to stop time and suspend reality for just a little longer so I can finally just see what I want to see before settling down, that's not gonna happen. I worry that I'm tossing away what progress I've made at leading a normal life. Not that this trip is so significant, but the cumulative effects of my choices are increasingly hard to ignore.
I have to go, though. Don't let that other paragraph lead you to think that ...
... their footprints. The sand has since been cemented into the hard resistant sandstone sandwiched between softer sandstones (shale). Beginning about 63 - 70 million years ago, mountain building forces lifted up the rocks to the west, bowing the layered sediments over the mountain core. Since then, erosion has stripped away great thicknesses of overlying rock, exposing the granite and gneiss in the core. The Dakota Hogback, of which Dinosaur Ridge is a part, is an erosional ...
