Our room was extremely nice. HUGE with a great view, nice recliner and all the expected things (LCD TV, microwave, refrigerator). The bed was super comfortable.

This is one of the fancier places we have stayed. Staff was very helpful and friendly as well.

... Las Vegas until late, up through Death Valley desert going through Furnace Creek campsite (campsite?) for a look around. Furnace Creek holds the record for being the hottest place on earth - on July 10th 1913 it recorded temperatures of 134 deg F that’s 56.7 deg C. Yowch. As we arrived it was a mere 113 deg F which really did feel flipping hot. Hard to imagine another 20 degrees or so. You’re advised to turn off air con as well so as to avoid overheating your car. ...

There were a couple of side tracks along the way which we ignored, then we came across the train line and had the choice of turning left along side it or crossing over. As Route 66 is said to follow the railway ...

26th November
Up at 9am. Had hostel breakfast. The hostel was pretty cool, in a big old house (potentially haunted). Booked a hostel in Las Vegas and downloaded directions. Left hostel about 11am. Went to supermarket to pick up food for lunch (Jack bought the biggest box of cookies ever). Sacramento was much quieter than we expected, definitely a change of pace from San Fran and LA. Began scenic drive (autumnal woods, lakes and mountain passes) to Vegas. Our plan was to ...
