Travel tip: the area around the cathedral has lots of shops and hotels and is very colorful. If I were going to stay in Malta, that would be the place.

We headed out of town to Achilleion Palace, the retreat for the Empress Elizabeth of Austria. We had learned about her life when we were in Vienna last year. She built this house in Corfu in late 19th century style and decorated it with Gods of Ancient Greece, primarily Achilles for which the palace is named. Tonight's entertainment was really fantastic - "East Coast Boys" a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Season" - great to sing along to 4 guys singing with perfect harmony together with a live band. It is still raining a seas a little rougher - but it is meant to be fine in Athens ...
