    ... only ones to make it to the 6:40 breakfast call. As the rest of the bleary eyed group boarded the tour bus, the perky pair were raring to go. The site was amazing and built rather quickly - what would have taken 25 years in Ontario, only took 10 in China!     ... to rip off tourists like ourselves and he offered to take us out there. So we jumped in his car along with a couple of other Chinese guys, who he dropped off on the way, and he took us to the dam. He didn't take us to the side where we could purchase tickets along with all the other tourists, he took us to the other side of the dam where we could get a really good view but we didn't need a ticket.

    ... to get used to is all the hacking and spitting. I know it’s a cultural difference, and I realise that it’s not my country so I try not to criticise - particularly when I’m told that they actually find it strange that we don’t spit like that - but I just find it hard to understand why anyone even needs to do it in the first place. Certainly I never have.

    ... the cruise time, anniversaries, and honeymooners! They called out everybody individually and handed us a scroll as a gift. The inside was a traditional Chinese hand-painted flower with the message of "happy newly weds…blessed with many years of happiness" written in Chinese. It was a very nice touch and we really appreciated it. We then sung Happy Birthday as a big group in English and they brought out cakes ...
