... highlight, with it's football match like atmosphere, dancing locals, and showmanship by the soldiers on both sides. All very friendly, against a backdrop of years of political and religious voilence and wars (3 bombs in Mumbai 2 weeks ago).
Now onto the Indian Himalaya's and the Tibetan refugee Buddist Monks, and some fresh clean (quiet/relaxing?) mountain air.

Wedding memories
Left early for our trip to see Komilla's mama (my mother's twin brother) in Ludhiana. Took the bus and stopped in Jalandhar to see his daughter Geeta and husband Karan. We had a great lunch with them at Radisson and then they dropped us all the way to Ludhiana. Their daughther Jaaven was gorgeous and it was nice to reconnect with a cousin whom I had very fond memories growing ...
Short Visit, big hearts.
... außer dass es eine sehr lebendige, aber saubere Stadt ist. Viel zu sehen gibts auch nicht wirklich, also gingen wir am Abend, nachdem er mir die Uniklinik, das Christian Medical College zeigte, ins Kino. Am naechsten Tag viel es mir schwer, dieses heimige Gefuehl hinter mir zu lassen und wieder alleine loszuziehen. Aber diese so herzliche Art gab mir Kraft, die ich in den naechsten Wochen brauchen wuerde. Weiter gehts.....

Scrub the Dirt off my shoulders
We stayed home today and mostly hung out at our families place in Ludhiana and acclimatized to the city. The amount of noise and dust are the first 2 observations we would make about Ludhiana and generally in all of Punjab. Horns are constantly honking, you can hear dogs barking and the sounds of engines rumble the ground all day. When you go outside for an hour or so you can literally feel a bit of a layer of dust ...
Wedding Day 3
... family, until a few years ago, so it is like a second home, hence the ceremony being repeated here.
When it got dark a procession of people walked from the cousins house to the brides home, accompanied by loud drums, singing and dancing. People (including us) took it in turns to walk with ornate head pieces on their heads. The head pieces had flashing lights on them and were quite heavy and hard to balance.
