... pictures, was a taste explosion – so delicious! We walked through the park and then took the subway to the other side of the Pearl River. The metro system is modern, efficient and easy to use but oh, the masses of people. Two of the trains today were so crammed that when they arrived at the stop, nobody could get on. We visited the Canton Tower and a nearby pagoda. They have a few things to learn about tourism yet – the ...

After being shown around the school, and grabbing some dinner at the canteen (the food is so much better than from the canteen in Beijing, luckily!), we had a lot of lesson planning to do that weekend so we made a start. We had been invited on a school trip on the Sunday so we had to get it done quickly! On Sunday we made our way to the school, the plan being a bike ride around a nearby lake (I can't remember the name). We squeezed into one ...

... and have been living here for 4 years. I admire them because they have a functional knowledge of Chinese which I know I will never have. We were chatting about things we find interesting here – lots of funny stories. I commented on the dressy clothes and shoes a lot of the women wear and they shared a word they’ve coined to describe it – prosti-chic, and that’s it! I can’t describe it but you can use your imaginations!
