Well, we're into February and if there is a groundhog around here, I don’t think he saw his shadow. Except for 2 days of rain, we had a very pleasant January with temperatures between 12 and 22. February is starting off the same way. There were only a handful of days when Tim didn’t wear his shorts, which I’m sure he’ll be telling you when he returns home. I feel we’re acclimatizing to life in China because most things seem ordinary ...

You also make up your own dipping sauce from a number of little pots. That’s where you need someone "in the know" so you don’t overdose on spiciness. We took a long walk in the big park yesterday which is about a 20 walk from our place. It was full of people enjoying the beautiful day ...

... use cormorants, as their assistants. The birds’ feet are tied to a rope and when they dive and catch a fish there’s another rope around their neck which prevents them from swallowing the fish and the fisherman takes it. I kid you not!

The actual attractions are in a smaller city, Yang Shuo where you board the ferry for a magical trip down the Li River. For 5 hours we meandered down the river, surrounded by the ...

... Christmas Eve day we spent downtown – our last chance to buy things to take back to China that we can’t get there. Lots of purchases from the pharmacy, and thanks to Kerry’s advice, a pill that seems to help Tim’s sinus and allergy symptoms. That evening we walked down to the Metro Church for Christmas Eve service. It is in a converted movie theater which had lot of good features – comfy seats, a stage, ...
