... were thinking perhaps 4* accommodation. Nope, nothing like, just single beds in a room and bathroom, nothing like Tangalooma, but it did us and after another eat as much as you like for dinner and a few drinks and game of pool, we slept well.

Today we had to be up and back on the coach at 8 (I know ridiculous early, but I am slowly getting to use to all these early starts). We headed off up 75 mile beach to Indian Head where we ...
Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia karendixon... to be the one to eat its meat. I think someone should harpoon him and leave him to slowly die in the water. Maybe I should have put this bit more in the middle of the blog and not at the end. Oh well to late now. It was a really really great experience and glad we did it, there's an online petition we are going to sign to help look after the whole tourist industry but also to have a voice on whaling at the International Whaling Commision. Its on www ...
Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia gaz-lj... the Eucalypt Forest. From here Craig set us off on a walk down through the forest to the lake passing over part of the sand dune called Hammerstone Sand Blow. It was really unique and impressive, there were even Cat Fish along with 12 other species of fish living in the lake. We noticed a patch of sand that was a different colour to the main part of the sand while we were on the lookout and Craig told us that it was because it was because it had a high Silica ...
Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia gaz-lj... no time to eat the fruit which was available for desert most people pocketed an orange and apple to eat along the way. We were then whisked away to Central Station, a former logging camp until the Island was nominated for World Heritage status in1991, and a brief walk along the beautiful crystal clear creek of Wanggoolba creek. Back in the bus the drivers commentary was chiefly concerning the state of the track, ( it was very deep sand most of the time ...
Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia jatty... tuna were attacking the scholes and eating the little fish so the scholes kept moving and making cool patterns in the water, we also saw lots of mantarays but no sharks, then just as our guide said its a shame we cant see any whales today a massive humpback leap out of the water and splashed back down in the ocean it was so cool, he jumped 1 more time and then swam off into the distance. so climbed back down and then drove back along the ...
Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia ctompkins11I know this is a travel blog. But the only travelling I have done today is the modest trip to my local neighborhood discount shop for some "scrapping book" things for my abnormally well behaved 3 year old. Hopefully that counts as travelling folks, and hopefully you read on.

You see, in my experience, people do love to hear about your exotic travels. White sandy beaches, rugged 4x4 terrain, cultural experiences and brushes with near ...
Pialba, Queensland, Australia jadejones... was cool to be racing along the beach. Our first stop was at Eli Creek, which was beautiful. We walked up stream from the beach and when we returned to the bus the driver had laid out tea and muffins for elevensies. We visited the coloured sands, a large rock formation with a blend of different sands made up over hundreds of years. Our tour guide was very informative and made for interesting listening, Fraser ...
Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia pixelchick... d left on their table. Got down the beach pretty easily and started at the southern end to do the "Lakes road". The first lake wasn't that inspiring but the second lake "Birrabeen" was similar to "McKenzie" yesterday in that is was beautiful beach like blue lake but better still - no where near as many people. Don't know if I mentioned yesterday but McKenzie was full of people everywhere - barely any space to throw a frisbee ...
Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia drownsroundaus... were incredible!) at Happy Valley. This was at the same time as telling 10 panicking girls that the dingoes weren't going to come into the campsite and bite off their legs. On several occasions me and Natalie had to escort girls to the toilet whilst they were weeing to calm their nerves. The Dingoes did take some victims though overnight in the form of Natalie's flip flops.

In the morning we got up and went for a walk along the beach and on our way back ...
Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia natandaidan... they had to station police on the island to attend to all the road rule infringements, bogged four wheel drives and traffic accidents. When they’re not investigating the deaths of tourists attacked by dingoes that is.

While there was an opportunity to take a scenic flight over the island (and freak out some of the oncoming traffic on the beach in the process) which most people did, I decided to check out the coloured sand cliffs just off the beach and have a look ...
