First night in Bangkok

A travel blog entry by sarah93

Arrived in Bangkok at 18:27 with our new friend "ness" from Birmingham who loves trip advisor more than anything. Made in through immigration without speaking fluent Thai. Picked up and taken straight to our lovely hotel and fast asleep by 9 (Islas still asleep and I'm bored) Oh and just had a shower if anyone's interested and it's not as nice as my one at home mum & dad 1 Thailand 0

Checked in online this morning to discover - to my horror - my 0900 flight to Samui was delayed til 1030. Means I likely would miss my 1330 ferry to Ko Tao. The only ferry of the day. Glad I made the effort to do online check in. Not obvious on the Air Bangkok website. Had to hunt for the link. Rushed to airport, stood in two lines and finally the …

Travel not too shabby

A travel blog entry by veloriaa

The journey wasn't too bad at all really. Just over 8 hours to Delhi, (spicy) but good food. Slept for around 4 hours (so my new UP bad tells me... I'm loving it, it tracks when you eat, move, sleep etc) Delhi to Bangkok plane was more comfortable but the food was awful. Got a pick up to the hotel, I've stayed before so it was good to know what you …

Our first night away - Bangkok

A travel blog entry by han2808

Soooo...... we arrived in Bangkok after the most horrible flight EVER... Turbulence was awful, seat belt signs were on for pretty much the entire flight.

Both pretty tired, luckily the hotel picked up from the airport so we didn't have to get lost in Bangkok.

We got to the hotel and decided to go for Thai massages, they were …

Cheap $35. Close to airport. Great for layover. Hard bed surprisingly comfortable. Could have done without Garfield the cat meowing at 0500!

The Great Residence hotel is extremely good value for money with our room costing £14 for two of us including transfer to and from the airport. There is a pool which is perfect after a long flight, the staff are friendly although the restaurant serves average thai food. The room was very clean and a decent size with a basic but again clean bathroom. Overall - very good value for anyone needing an overnight stop near the airport after a long flight.

Good service, clean and comfortable rooms

When arriving at midnight in a strange country, it's nice when you're bed is only 5 minutes away. They handle all your luggage and treat you like you're at a 5 star hotel (yes I've tried one, once). The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Air conditioning worked well, as did the hot water. Travelers unfamiliar with international showering systems will have a little trouble with the controls, but it's not hard to learn. This hotel is a little out of the way of everything else, but the location is pleasant, at the end of a cul de sac, under a freeway ramp that's not too noisy, with fields of greenery and palm trees to the sides. Restaurant didn't have any food after 10am.
