Heading off to the airport, IAH! Next Stop Atlanta, then a straight 15 hrs to Joburg, where we'll catch another plane to Gaborone! We have a room at a casino resort to relax and unwind before we head out to the white hot sands of the Kalahari. Not much to write about...
My only reason to come to Houston was to visit the NASA space center. Frankly, it was unimpressive at best.
Houston downtown looked very busy, huge and un-inviting and I felt very tired at the same time. So I decided not to do anything else in Houston. I checked into a motel close to NASA and crashed.
Tomorrow morning, I leave for the Bayou country in Louisiana. My destinations are going to be Lafayette, Avery Island, New Orleans and anywhere else that looks ...

Cancelled flight and problem solving
... the 7am from Houston to Austin. Sounded like a great suggestion, especially as there is a Marriott within the Houston airport.
So we did; the flight was fine and on-time. We were even able to sit together in Economy Plus, which isn't bad for a last-minute change. I had booked us a room at the Marriott; we took the train to the hotel and were in bed within 30 minutes of landing. It was after midnight but we were still a bit wired so took a little while to fall ...
Space Cadet
... I missed the behind-the-scenes "hard hat" tour a few days ago (stuck in sucky Houston without realizing I could be doing this), so tomorrow I'm going to call and see if I can sweet talk (or drawl) my way into a private tour. We'll see. Regardless, I'm excited to see the whatever I can, and to zoom almost 500 feet up the San Jacinto monument. Gotta put fresh batteries in the camera. I may save this part of the trip ...
