On a flight to the US in the early nineties, a trip that would acquaint me with Sarah's brother and family for the first time, I consumed eight of those small bottles of wine…sorry Sarah has just returned (without the crocodile handbag thank god) and reminded me it was twelve ...

When we finally left we took the Turks Ferry from Hampton Court down the Thames to Kingston, a 35 min ride...enough time to relax with a wine and look at the sights and watch the rowers racing past. Once in Kingston we walked the tow line paths beside the Thames back to Teddington, stopping to talk with fisherman trying their luck ...

... to Scotland with her parents. But still, with such a family trace in Africa, I have never been! I have never really been exposed to African culture, apart from stories from Mum and her family (normally from my fantastic cousins)and the only vague accent I have heard is when Mum gets angry and she bursts into a 'Khali' South African accent!! When my Grandpa (Dad's Father) first set off to Africa, he was about my age. He was a nervous ...
