Historical Traveler Reviews of Graves 601 Hotel Minneapolis

Trendy, but Friendly

from sydken
My husband and I stayed at Le Meridian for two nights, Nov. 21 thru 23 and really enjoyed the hotel. Walking in, my husband said it reminded him of the Standard in LA, which he hated (pretentious, snotty staff and guests, garish rooms). But, we were pleasantly surprised by how nice the staff were. Our waiter at breakfast each day was wonderful, couldn't be nicer. The concierge was helpful and steered us toward good restaurants. At first it felt a little sterile, sort of Scandinavian/IKEA-ish, but we quickly warmed to our room. The temperature was easy to control and we were always comfortable. The shower was great and the TV in the bathroom was a fun touch. The 42 inch plasma was decadent. The bed was like a dream. Being within the skyway was a blessing as it was a little nippy outside and we could shop like crazy in comfort. The restaurant, Cosmos, was fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Minneapolis who is bored with the usual Marriotts and Radissons.

Best hotel in Minneapolis

from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife and I stayed here the night of our wedding and we loved it. The staff was very attentive when we arrived, and I was quickly able to get into my room. I liked how the elevator needed a room key, it keeps out the riffraff. The room was perfect. The furnishings were modern, but were still luxurious. The bed, linens, and pillows were extremely comfortable. I personally loved the 42" plasma tv, the view of downtown MNPLS, the extra LCD tv in the bathroom, and the huge shower.

Can I live here

from bootchick
After spending five minutes in this hotel I was like can I live here. It is like a experience beyond belief a modern hotel that makes you feel like your in a movie. Oh I will return and they also sell there bed linens and pillows online and I am buying one of the pillows for sure.

The BEST night's sleep at the CLEANEST hotel!

from junkbondgirl
This is by far my favorite hotel in the U.S. I have traveled all over the world and always compare them to Le Meridien Minneapolis. The rooms are the CLEANEST around with the best beds. Excellent mini-bar, flat screen tv and huge, modern, stone bathroom. The 2 bars in the hotel pretty much dominate the Minneapolis nightlife scene, so it's easy to crawl home! Don't stay anywhere else!

A bit much

from A TripAdvisor Member
We just returned from a four night stay at Le Meridian. I disagree with the previous reviews on this forum. The hotel is simply pretentious. The service was adequate at best, the beds were soft, the room varied in temperture, and the shower was just okay. The TV/DVD set was very nice, and the location is good, particularly if you are attending an event at the Target Center. For a much lower price, however, there are many other hotels in the vicinity (including the Marriot City Center or the Radisson) that would serve just as well. If pretentious and ultra-hip are what you are looking for in a hotel, stay here. Otherwise, save $100 (or more) per night and stay elsewhere. Or spend the same amount of money and stay at the Minneapolis Grand Hotel, which is terrific.

Best Hotel in MSP

Le Meridien is perfect. Loved the rooms, terrific bar, etc. Modern in design and facilities. The doorman was a doll and valets were fine, but room service weren't very polished and front desk didn't have the likeability that makes MN so nice. Still it gets a 5 as everything else far exceeds expectations. Can't wait to go back.

Really a wonderful hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife and I stayed here this last weekend and loved its quirky, faux-bamboo, Euro-coolness. It is superbly located on Block E and across from the Target Center, so everything in downtown Minneapolis is readily accessible by walking the streets or above-ground pedways that connect all the buildings. The room was minimalist cool, and the 42-inch plasma screen television made even CNN look exciting. The multi-headed shower system made us try to deplete the hotel's hot water tanks, but to no avail. This is a truly wonderful hotel that we recommend very highly.

For "Modernists" !

from A TripAdvisor Member
I tend to favor "traditional" hotels and decor -- but within the "modernist category," Le Meridien Minnesapolis is very good.

Bedding excellent -- superb linens, pillows, and down-filled duvet.

Plasma T-V -- approximates an in-room "theatre."

Shower with its multi-water spouts is memorable -- and works great.

With it minimalist decor, and 'hip' atmosphere, the hotel is has the feel of a "Berlin" setting.

A Mixed Experience

from acek
First the positives: Loved the plasma tv, the cascade shower and the italian linens. The staff was for the most part friendly and helpful, if not particularly well-trained. And the location is most convenient.

But there were also plenty of negatives. Food quality in restaurant was mediocre and service was slow, certainly not worth the extravagant Manhattan-like prices. Chaos reigned at checkout, where they twice tried to overcharge me (by over $100 per night) for the room. Front door staff was absolutely inept at getting my bags down from reception and into a taxi - this simple task took over half an hour. And the decor of rooms and hallways is embarrassing - Phillipe Starck as interpreted by Ikea. Most of these problems may be attributable to the hotel's newness, and I would return just for the cascade shower and plasma tv.

Le Meridien One of the Best

from LocustPointBaltimore
This is truly a New York "W" type of hotel. It was great! The rooms are

comfortable and provide a 42 inch plasma television. In addition, the

shower is one of the best I have had in a hotel room. You can be assured

a good nights sleep with the the best bed in the industry. No question,

they are going through a bit of a shake down period but, they do all

they can to make up any short commings with personal service.
