Friday, September 12 (continued)

Il Monticello was a beautiful villa in the countryside, very tranquil, and a perfect antidote to the stress of the last few hours of negotiating French traffic, Our rooms each opened out onto a terrace with a view of the hillside. Our hosts gave us the names of three restaurants in the nearby village, but all were full for the evening. We ended up at a large brasserie right in the ...

... t add up. Anyway, this turn of events was welcomed after our Ryanair debacle and late night hotel room scramble. The next morning we got up for an early morning hike to Saint Jean Cap Ferrat. So another early ...

... After a couple of suggestions and a look at the extensive 'guide book' prepared by them we headed to Valbonne. An old town built on a grid system and it was very interesting to explore up and down the narrow streets looking at the shops and artists as well as the main square completed surrounded by restaurants. Very tempting location to stop and eat. A few restaurants off the square also looked inviting but we decided to go and buy some fish and vegetables for the barbecue.
