... time-- they loved it! We sat in lounge chairs and soaked up the Tyrollean sun and Dolomite views. We went into the mountain house for a sausage, cheese, bread and beer lunch, along with potato chips-- which we forgot mean french fries!! Then back outside to play, play, play. Then we hiked an hour down the mountain which was tough on the legs, but lots of fun too. Sidenote: Brady dropped his water bottle from the lift on the way up, but we found it on our hike down. ...

... came up. We decided to have lunch there and both Val and I had a nice bowl of vegetable soup. Val had hot chocolate as well - the Italian hot chocolate is so thick you can almost stand up your spoon in it! Due to the wether, we decided against going on to the next hut and instead returned to the Albergo Falzarego via a different route. All around, in every direction, the views were spectacular. In one particular direction it looked just like Mordor from The Lord of the Rings trilogy! The limestone and dolomite rock walls are eroded in amazing patterns with sheer vertical walls and jagged crests along the skyline. The colouring is pinkish where the rock is dolomitic. There ...

... a biker meeting point. It's incredible! And the roads are ideal - twisty hairpin bends with a spectacular view at each turn. We went for a ride in the afternoon - riding west from Corvara over the Passo Gardena which connects Corvara in the Val Badia with Sëlva in the Val Gardena on the west side. It has an elevation of 2,136 m above sea level. We then went south over Passo Sella between the provinces of Trentino and South Tyrol in Italy. It ...

... and Friulian. It is most unusual looking. There is a heavy Tyrol influence in this part of Italy, in terms of architecture and farm buildings. Everyone has huge barns filled with chopped firewood, hay, skins, room for livestock and I suspect their sausages are hanging from the ceiling. There is so much preparation for the long winter months and it appears that they are as self- sufficient as ...
