DAY 1 - Broad Beach

Arrived at our accomdation in Broadbeach - Grangewood Court. Met Liz (the owner). Dumped our stuff anf went grocery shopping at Oasis. Got back and searched the apartment. Dad went for a walk - when he got back we decided to visit th Harbour Town Shopping Centre. It was good. Bought Heaps - Colorado shoes for school next year (Year 11) and an emily the strange t-shirt. We were there forever and shopped until we dropped!! Dropped into a fruit market on the way home and got some Nectarenes. OUR...

Week 44 Sydney to Gold Coast

... so the mission continued (but with some caution on my behalf). The spider in question was a huntsman..pretty big fellas and quite aggressive. Sheridan told me a story of when he was cleaning his bike and grabbed an old rag hung over an outside chair. After a few minutes he felt something on his chest, looked down and lo and behold there was a huge huntsman sitting there giving him the eye of death (shiver). After watching Sheridan swing around the attic and everywhere ...

... in suggesting about getting around. We decided on a car rental for the last couple of days but took the shuttle transfer again back to Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta. We went to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and alsoByron Bay, where I am sure we will stay next time we visit the Gold Coast for a holiday

Day 14 - Movie World!

... one last go on the Batwing Spaceshot - the 2nd last go on that for the day. After sitting down for a few minutes to get our balance back, we were eventually pushed out of the park by the security guard and we headed to the car for the trip home. The trip home was suprisingly short and we all were exhausted, our heads sore from spinning around and our ears and throats hurting from screaming. Bronte was feeling absolutley terrible ...

Surfers Paradise

23rd to 27th Dec 2007 The last few days I have been relaxing on Hamilton Island. On Sunday, 24th, I booked a tour to the Great Barrier Reef. Did a helicopter ride over the reef - fantastic views, and we flew over the famous "Heart Reef". On Christmas day, I just relaxed around the pool and soaked up the sun and had a late dinner. Yesterday was a wash out. I had planned to go to Whitehaven beach but the weather had turned for the ...

Surfer's Paradise

... I don't know, I didn't try. It is also very much a young person's town, lined with boutiques, pubs, reatauraunts and, obviously, young people, and all of this give it a thriving party atmosphere. I liked the surface of it, the beach was beautiful, but I was glad that I was only daytripping, I didn't want to stay. My supposition of a paradise frequented by surfers, that was, well, secluded other than for the waves shows how little attention I ...

Australia Day, Moreton Island

Yeah Brisbane! The last few days have been great! Robert and his family have treated us extremely well! Australia Day was filled with lamb roasting on a spit, street cricket, and drinking at a scuzy pub/bar. We got to meet lots of Robert's friends and eat amazing food. Plus, at the bar the band played "Summer of 69." We flipped out! The last couple days have been spent camping on Moreton Island. It is kinda like Fraser Island (largest sand ...

C'MON YOU BLUEBOYS!!!!!

... spent at Peterpans, it was a typical day working there without anytthing special happening. This was until late afternoon when a lad walked past the window of the shop who I recognised but weren't too sure who he was or where he was from so I didn't bother doing anything. It clicked a couple of minutes later that he was a lad who I lived with at Uni called Steve from up north somewhere, I'd heard from a couple of mates he was out here but didn't think there was a chance in hell ...

... took them on a tour of the city showing them the likes of darling harbour and the opera house but with the weather being so bad we were restricted to what we could see. They kindly treated me to a fast food lunch and after mile and miles of walking they arranged to meet up with me later in the evening to treat us to a meal. I spend the rest of the afternoon with my head buried in a english version of FHM that my mom and dad brought over and have decided that when I get home that I'm ...

Wallabies and Lorikeets

... holds up in pans. Emma forlorngly offers her pan until her arms ache, without attracting a single bird. But her perserverance pays off as first one, then two, then uncountable birds perch on her pan, arms, hat, shoulders. She ends up white-washed and smelly, but happy. The sanctuary has humble origins in the area, and seems a bit of an anacronism in the overhyped strip of theme parks along the Gold Coast. This is most apparent in the Aboriginal Dancers ...
