Historical Traveler Reviews of Grandresort Limassol

A pleasant hotel with good facilities

from Jones12
We stayed at this hotel for 10 nights for our honeymoon in July 2006 and had a very enjoyable holiday.

We found the bedroom to be on the small side for a five star hotel and the bathroom to be even smaller. However, both were clean and well presented.

The pool area is lovely - well maintained and not very busy when we were there - you could always find a sun lounger at any time of the day. We didn't use the beach but there are watersports available.

The only downside was the food. Breakfast was fine, but on our first night we ate buffet style in the Anthea restaurant and left feeling very disappointed having paid £20 each for a cold chinese buffet which (as it was admittedly 9.30) was on its last legs. We didn't eat in the hotel again. However, there are two particularly good restaurants over the road from the hotel - Terre E Mare and the Zen Room (japanese and Thai). There is also a good Irish Bar - Molly Malones a short walk away (good for sky sports).

Would recommend the hotel as the overall experience was very good. Just the food that let it down.

Snipers are on the roof as I write....

from SandOnion
We have blockaded ourselves in our room and are refusing to leave. Snipers are on the roof as i write. There is no way we're leaving this fabulous hotel.

We were greeted with a big genuine smile from the receptionist and the managers made a point of meeting with us and the other new arrivals over a glass or two of champagne.

The hotel has a small beach with very soft, dark sand. The water is calm enough to swim in, but also has waves which are fun to play in and there are various watersports available to entertain you.

The swimming pool is large and clean, and the hotel provides good-quality sun loungers and towels.

For most of our stay, the hotel was fairly quiet, and there were often only a few tables occupied at its speciality restuarants. The majority of people ate at the mainstream but good quality Anthea restuarant, but the other restuarants were a real treat. The Japanese Teriaki restuarant was so entertaining that we went there for the first and last days of our trip. The sushi bar was also very high quality, as were the Salamina and Seafood restuarants.

My! What a great hotel!!

The Hawaii Grand is a modern, large, family owned hotel, ideal for a conference or a relaxing holiday. We loved the location, just outside Limassol, about 10 or 15 mins. drive from the main shopping areas in an upmarket area . Nearby is a small supermarket, some restaurants and one or two other four and five star hotels. We had a one week holiday there in April 2006 and enjoyed every minute.

The entrance hall is impressive and spacious. Upon our arrival the friendly receptionist offered us a hot towel each to fresh up with after our journey. Indeed, the staff thoughout our stay were most friendly and helpful. The decor of the hotel is of good quality and well maintained. The pool is large, clean and impressive. It is where we wanted to spend most of our time. The furnishings around the pool are of good quality, with not a plastic garden chair in sight. Pool attendants are helpful. The gardens are colourful, lush and well attended to. The weather, we found, was delightful - warm and sunny with just a little breeze. The hotel is on a small beach which has all manner of watersport facilities. Horse riding is available to book from the hotel nextdoor. On the other side of the hotel complex is a rather unattractive piece of waste ground which is shielded from view by vegetation.

There are many excellent restaurants in the hotel catering for every possible taste from Japanese food to delicious light snacks and desserts. Room service is 24 hours. The hot and cold breakfasts are tremendous! There is a sumptuous cocktail bar which has entertainment in the evenings I have to admit the sound of the male singer/guitarist who sang endless sad greek songs made me drink my final cocktail quick and retreat to my room, but the pianist and female singer appearing before him are pleasant enough to listen to. If you like magic tricks there is an illusionist who entertains too.

If you can tear yourself away from the many on site restaurants, the Terra Mare restaurant opposite is hightly recommended.

Slightly disappointing was the room which, in plain beige, was somewhat dull looking, but nevertheless comfortable and very clean. The bathroom could have been bigger and more luxurious. There was a safe in the room but generally we got the impression that Cyprus was not crime ridden like Spain and other tourist destinations. The hotel also boasts a wellness centre....indoor pool, gym, sauna, steambath et al, and pricey beauty treatments are available. As for the conference centre, all I can say is that it looks massive and it was being well used during our stay!

I would love to return to this hotel and recommend it to anyone who appreciates quality, style and service.during their holiday.

Memorable!

My husband and I spent our 1st wedding anniversary at the Hawaii Grand in Limassol and after spending our honeymoon in Hawaii (a disappointing experience) our first wedding anniversary will be unforgettable. We were overwhelmed with the effort made to make not only our holiday but our anniversary day one to remember. The staff were very friendly, excellent service and the food was varied and delicious. The hotel was ideally situated for a quiet holiday. We will be back in the future!

Impressive Hotel

from LisaR77
We loved this hotel. Check in took literally 2 minutes and was pain free for once. We were offered hot refreshing towels for our hands while we checked in and we were taken to our room straight away without delay. All the hotel staff were very friendly and could not do enough to help you. The room was very nice and clean. The TV had a few English channels and there was a welcome box of chocolates and flower on the bed. The bathroom was very nice and had complimentary shower gel, shampooo, etc. There was plenty of storage space should you have lots of luggage. The balcony was ok and our room faced on the road but you cannot have it all. We ate at a restaurant outside of the hotel by choice for our evening meal but have heard the evening meals at the hotel are good. Breakfast was excellent with a big choice for all, even the fussy eater. The staff were prompt in offering tea and coffee and there was plenty of food available. I would recommend this lovely hotel to anyone. We only stayed the night but will return soon for another lovely stay.

Beatuiful experience!!

from hlalwine
We traveled to Cyprus to get married in a wonderful country. We stayed at the Hawaii Grand and had our reception a very short distance down the road. We could have had our reception at the Hawaii but they had already booked a wedding for the night we requested. It was still a very wonderful experience. The General Manager, Mr. Aristides, was amazing. He went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of. The front desk was fantastic and the outdoor cabana and cafe were amazing. If I had it to do all over again... I most definately would. We had a wonderful room overlooking the sea. We were given a bottle of wine, fruits and chocolates. I could never tell you how amazing our experience was! We will always stay at the Hawaii Grand when we go back to visit our family and friends in Cyprus. The hotel may cost slightly more to stay there but, for the 5 star service you receive, you would not want it to be any different! Make sure you get breakfast included in your stay, it is unbelieveable!!!

Disappointed

from A TripAdvisor Member
Pseudo 5 star, very average service with unbelieveably high prices. I paid CYP105 per person for what I would describe as a three star equivalent room (twin beds), came out to over USD600 with dinner for a one nights stay. My wife and I went along the coast and got a better quality room in a 4 star hotel in Paphos for CYP66 per room! A quarter of the cost and much improved services. This was not a value for money location.

Not a Great Place to Stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel is classed as a premium 5* resort hotel. Service in and around the bars and restaurants is poor. Most of the staff are not well enough trained to appreciate the needs of guests. Don't settle for an 'inland room' it tends to over look the hotel car park and the 4 lane dual carriageway - which does not allow for a very restful stay. Overall I don't feel this hotel is a true 5* establishment - however, you may be interested to learn that they do charge well above 5* prices for food and beverages.

A good Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
My family and i recently stayed at the Hawaii Grand hotel, Cyprus for a week. It was a decent hotel, but certainly not worthy of a 5 star rating. The food was generally good, however, the evening meal was a bit flat and repetitive. The lunch however, was excellent, as was the breakfast. Both provided plenty of variety. The rooms were, again good, but not excellent. The bathroom was a bit small, and the rooms were average. Some of the surfaces were soiled. The facilities of the hotel were good, but a bit short, and probably not enough for the amount of guests staying in the hotel.

Magnificent.

I recently stayed at the Hawaii Grand Hotel, Limassol, for a week. Suffice to say that it is 5 star in every sense of the label. It is about 9 miles outside the town. There is a local bus from the gate which operates regularly during the day but it stops at 9.00pm. I guess that if you are staying here the cost of a taxi won't bother you. Go on - spoil yourself!
