          ... alternative plans worked out just as well as we took champagne, treats, noise makers and grapes up to the rooftop terrace of our apartment building to ring in the new year. Many other apartment residents had the same idea so we had a nice little party and were able to see fireworks from the terrace. We tried to follow the Spanish tradition of eating twelve grapes as each bell rang at midnight but it was difficult to eat so many grapes in such a short time!
