Mirove namesti 2 Karlovy Vary, Bohemia, Czech Republic, 36091, 353-109-111

We got up bright and early today to hike across town, to catch our connection to Karlovy Vary. As it turned out, we were a little too early, as the train was delayed 80 minutes, so it was a long wait at Prague station, listening to many incomprehensible (to me) announcements, preceded by a jaunty little jingle that I'm sure would lose its novelty for those who work there, but I liked it. We whiled away the hours by sitting briefly in the park eating potato cakes, before feeling too conspicuou...
Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic cazaliKarlovy Vary is one of those spa towns, with hot springs popping up everywhere. These springs apparently have healing properties, so it is somewhat full of slow people and pensioners hoping for the cures to all their ailments. Everyone walks from one spring outlet to the next, sampling the salty (often very hot) water in special cups with little spouts. The town itself looks almost untouched from the 14th century, with gorgeous facades, cobbled streets and fountains. There is, of course, the ...

Karlovy Vary, Karlovarský Kraj, Czech Republic l_i_s_a_cBack in Canada in the Province of Saskatchewan there is Lake Manitou. The water in this lake has lots of minerals, similar to the Dead Sea properties. You float in it. We have been to the Manitou Spa several times and enjoyed the uniqueness of free floating. At the spa they advertise there are only three places of water in the world with the same properties, one being Manitou, the Dead Sea and the waters at Karlovy Vary, Czech ...
Karlovy Vary, Bohemia, Czech Republic dancejill... sausages for lunch. Was half cut - half a litre of beer with jetlagg...interesting combination.

Flew from Prague on the dodgiest little plane, Jarrad was pulling sticky tape off the cabin and announcing outloud that we might not make it alive. Hmmmmm they also made the mistake of asking him to complete the customer survey...

Went out on the bikes yesterday to explore town. Amazing - bus loads of tourists arrive here daily. Photos don't do it justice.

Karlovy Vary, Bohemia, Czech Republic tdennissteel... where we marvelled at the gorgeous mouth-blown and hand made creations and finally realized the beauty and value of the glasses we had received from Mirek's parents. Despite the high cost, we treated ourselves to a set of glasses like the one's they had gotten us years before and will use and enjoy them even more now. Mirek's extremely generous and sweet Aunt, Uncle and cousin also bought us some so we are looking forward to drinking in style from now on ...
Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic polloslibre... are flat crisp wafers filled with a hazlenut/sugar flavoring about 10" round. They are exported around the world but here is the only place you can have one fresh hot off the press, so we did, several in fact. (my parents used to buy them for my sisters and I on the promanade, and the same shops still exists) We'll continue with more exploits from Karlovy Vary in the next update. Nashledanow (Goodbye in Czech) Celina and Mirek/Pollos Libres
Karlovy Vary, Bohemia, Czech Republic polloslibre... Latvia while Iwas there. Would appreciate it if you could let me know if either of these sound familiar? Anyway, this is all for now. Will update from Krakow -there's something to be said for hostels - always English speakers around and I miss conversation!!!! Good thing I talk to myself a lot, probably way to much now! By the way, karlovy Vary is near the German border on the west side of Czech Rep. the map pin isn't recognizing the IP address from here.
