Grande Ville Hotel Bangkok

The journey to Bangkok was long and very dull. The crossing into Thailand was as chaotic as anything else Mac had seen, however leaving Cambodia made it worse. Mac did not like Bangkok at all, it was a carbunkle on the toe of the Indochina subcontinent. A country of 1000 promises, all of them lies... a city full of miserable people who's sole aim is to shaft you. Two good things about the place, a nice meal and the airport that took Mac out of it. 3rd Dec Well as you know Bangkok airport was closed and we had to get there by the Saturday, luckily enough we had booked a four days on our own in Bangkok so this gave us enough time to figure out how to get there overland, and the amazing race started..... Left at 7am for the long drive to Bangkok on the Dancing Road, so named because you spend all your time in and out of potholes such a bumpy road. 3 hours to the border and then over into Thailand, and what a difference, you can see it immediately. The roads improve, there is shops, houses, cars such a difference from Cambodia. Went to Rambuttri Street for dinner and then off to the Kho San Road for drinks.

Hello there from Southeast Asia! It was a long trip, I mean really long. That first morning spent in Bangkok can be best described as something similar to being thrown into the deep end of the pool, while blindfolded with your hands behind your back. It is such a massive city, people are up, down, right, left and sideways..and usually are on scooters or have a hot deep fryer sitting about 2 inches from where your elbow always tends to be. Arrived back in Sydney on Tuesday evening, for one more full day there. Quite uneventful, went back in the evening to the Opera house Bar, I know i had already done that but the place has a really good vibe about it. Arrived at Bangkok Airport at 15:20 and got a taxi to the Grande Ville Hotel. Checked into my room and met my room mate - Anne-Louise from Denmark. We met up with our second tour group for The Great Indochina Loop, this time with Intrepid Travel, at the rooftop bar of the Grand Ville hotel in Bangkok. We have a different group this time.
