Apologies for not updating the blog - today is 9th April. Not really had access to the internet for a couple of weeks. I'll fill in the blanks, as much possible. I'm writing on a vietnamese keyboard so some weird characters may appear in thƯ entry. So I joined up with the Intrepid Trip - met my fellow travellers at the group meeting. Lucy 18 from Kent, Elaine 26 from Islingston, Felicity 26 going on 40 from Oz, and my new buddies Sophie 24 and David 37 from Canberra Oz. Plus the tour leader M...
Bangkok, Thailand craftyphilThe journey to Bangkok was long and very dull. The crossing into Thailand was as chaotic as anything else Mac had seen, however leaving Cambodia made it worse. Mac did not like Bangkok at all, it was a carbunkle on the toe of the Indochina subcontinent. A country of 1000 promises, all of them lies... a city full of miserable people who's sole aim is to shaft you. Two good things about the place, a nice meal and the airport that took Mac out of it. Go land mine clearing in Angola, at least you...
Bangkok, Thailand easton-martin3rd Dec Well as you know Bangkok airport was closed and we had to get there by the Saturday, luckily enough we had booked a four days on our own in Bangkok so this gave us enough time to figure out how to get there overland, and the amazing race started..... We got a flight to Singapore and we dashed to the underground to catch a overnight sleeper train to Kuala Lumpur, we had the upper berths which Ben had booked by accident so he was a bit squished, but we were just glad we had made the con...
Bangkok, Thailand freebenLeft at 7am for the long drive to Bangkok on the Dancing Road, so named because you spend all your time in and out of potholes such a bumpy road. 3 hours to the border and then over into Thailand, and what a difference, you can see it immediately. The roads improve, there is shops, houses, cars such a difference from Cambodia. Went to Rambuttri Street for dinner and then off to the Kho San Road for drinks.
Bangkok, Thailand freebenHello there from Southeast Asia! It was a long trip, I mean really long. Delta was in their top notch on the "why did I fly with you all again?" category, but thankfully I transferred over to Japan Air in Tokyo, where even us cheapskate passengers in bottom rung coach are treated like royalty. Beyond that, the important thing about the commute was arriving in Bangkok and wrestling down taxi transport into the city, dropping the backpack at the hotel and sniffing out some sights. Except that i...
Bangkok, Thailand geojoThat first morning spent in Bangkok can be best described as something similar to being thrown into the deep end of the pool, while blindfolded with your hands behind your back. It is such a massive city, people are up, down, right, left and sideways..and usually are on scooters or have a hot deep fryer sitting about 2 inches from where your elbow always tends to be. And that's just the visible part. Street signs are a little less on the visible side, and when you can find one, well it'll be ...
Bangkok, Thailand geojoArrived back in Sydney on Tuesday evening, for one more full day there. Quite uneventful, went back in the evening to the Opera house Bar, I know i had already done that but the place has a really good vibe about it. Spent the day preparing myself for the flight to Bangkok. Meant to leave Sydney at 12.20pm, hen flew to Singapore. The flight was terrible - there was a fault on the speakers of the public anouncement system, so it just made the most terrible buzzing noise for the last 7 of the 8...

Bangkok, Thailand jaime.hartiganWe met up with our second tour group for The Great Indochina Loop, this time with Intrepid Travel, at the rooftop bar of the Grand Ville hotel in Bangkok. We have a different group this time. There are no other couples with this group compared to the South America tour where we had 3 other couples...no one is even dating! Just us showing the true way to have a happy marriage! No pressure, haha. We have 3 other Americans (Boston, St. Louis, San Diego), 5 British, 2 Australians and an Australia...
Bangkok, Thailand laytonandjanaIt was my first time to travel out of my country of residence and i was so excited then! I spent so much time planning before the trip, we were lucky we have availed of a promo from Cebu Pacific Airlines of a package tour including hotel accommodations, meals and trasportation! The dates of our travel is from July 21-26, 2008. Our first stop is in Bangkok City where we had a view of the Floating Market (which was fun!) and we visited an ancient temple called Teample of Wat Arun. The temple wa...
