... heron pictured below, roseate spoonbills, wood storks, a beautiful Kingfisher, a woodpecker, and an avocet. The avocet was a "new bird" for Brenda so she was quite excited. There were assorted other birds and various ducks. We searched in vain for the alligators that inhabit the marshes.

We had lunch in Murrel's Inlet at a dockside restaurant with a beautiful view ...

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, United States lblack... we went back to the hotel to get ready for the first night of the reunion.

Tim and Brenda (our college roomies) arrived and we went to the Grillhouse for dinner. Then it was back to meet the Pine Forest alumni. They seem to be your typical bunch of "old geezers" as Rick calls them. Some older and geezier than others! The band they had put together of alumni - some of whom used to play together - was surprisingly ...

I was puzzled, why now of all things, and saw how the old exhaust was rusted through. I thought it should be OK, with no muffler on temporarily till we got to Florida, but as we headed out of town, the exhaust gas filled the RV instantaneously, prompting me to pull over in the first big city in the country roads out of south Carolina, headed towards Florida. I ...

We ended up going to this strange little gay bar and restaurant, which just happened to be having Jeopardy night. Needless to say, with my weekly trivia skills under belt, I felt compelled to sign up. I won my round against two of my cast members, and we proceeded to dance and drink and just have fun. Well, only 2 other rounds of Jeopardy were played, so I was one of the top 3 scores, which ...

Then we talked through the winter home of the Huntingtons, a couple of rich NY'ers who came here in the winter in the 1930's--buying 9,000 acres, because the Missus had TB. He seemd like a good dude as rich people go.

Soon Alice fell sick and while caring for Alice, her brother found Alice’s engagement ring around her neck and threw it into the marsh, never to be found again. Alice soon succumbed to her illness and died. She was buried at the All Saints Church in Pawley’s Island under a stone that simply reads, “Alice”. The legend goes that if you walk around Alice’s grave backwards 13 times ...
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, United States monstervacation... back up in the hope that we'd soon be out of the car and in some place of food and beer - we flew down the highway to Marble Canyon, the most remote town we passed through in the entire trip.

We arrived and Landy headed to the reception, he actually sprinted to the reception when it looked like another guy was about to walk in to ask for a room as well. We seriously didn't want to lose a room here. Landy came back and told us that the good news is that we've got an ...
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, United States iantrickett... was the one time that a boat hit rock and steel from an old Navy pier. While their keel took a bit of a beating, everything else was fine and they soon were on their way again. We learned later in the day that another of our group of boats, which had left about 15 minutes earlier, had done exactly the same thing with the same results. We haven't been immune from grounding ourselves but thankfully it has been in mud each time. Passing Morehead City at mile 205, we entered a whole ...
