... a bit dismal as about half to two thirds of the stalls have gone. It's fair to say that Franci was pretty sad at the changes, he has fond memories of being with his father and the quality of the produce. ... we skipped the antipasti plate, instead we went straight for more tortelli, this time a mix of a pumpkin tortelli (a modern variation) and a traditional wild nettle variety. These were served without a sauce and I was informed weren't nearly as good as the ones the day before as the pasta was thicker. The pumpkin was lovely but the wild nettle were my favourite - it's hard to describe the flavour, it's subtle but just a distinctly different 'green' flavour to anything else ...

... I'm not completely useless! After however many hours at the Birreria, we end in the wee hours with Francesco's cousin Alessandro and a couple of other friends in what was once the family pizzeria and gelateria. It burned down in 2007 and Alessandro refitted it but instead of the old school wood, it is now white and stainless steel.
