... Snake River Brewing Company, and then spent most of our afternoon using the hotel's free wireless to get our lives in order.
The next morning we rushed to pick up some more camping food supplies and secure a campsite at Jenny Lake, the most popular campground at the Park. After setting up camp we walked down to Jenny Lake to read and enjoy the absolutely spectacular view of Grand Teton and Mount Moran. We then drove up to ...
... so much food that we had to take some to go.
- Went to see the canyon of Yellowstone. Although this canyon is not even close to the size of the Grand Canyon, it is pretty amazing because it has an enormous waterfall plunging down to the floor. Incredible.
- Stopped for buffalo to cross the road. While photographing them, we cracked up when one plopped down and started rolling over in the dirt to scratch his back. We felt the ...
... Around 8:45 a large grizzly appeared from the west over the hill and ran toward a herd of about 40 elk. When he got within 50 yards of the elk, the herd bolted to the east. Suddenly two bears came out of the woods from the east, apparently working with the first bear. The elk panicked and ran back towards the first bear. In the link of any eye, the first bear was scrambling in the middle of the herd, but was unable to down an elk. The adult ...
Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, United States lstoneham... hikes available.
There is a loop road around the middle of the park so I pretty much drove right around that and stopped along the way whenever there was something to look at.Yellowstone NP is fantastic and has a wide variety of attractions - lakes, waterfalls, geysers and wildlife. I got to see some Buffalo up close and even saw a wolf running along the side of the road. I finished my day in ...
... a good person but slightly egocentric....he requested this area to have his name when he was at his dying bed. As you can probably see from the photographs, these geysers are well organised, fenced, have wooden paths all along and have plenty of benches to sit and watch the geysers do their stuff...what a difference to Bolivia where they recommended not to get close to the death trap but did nothing to prevent it. We remembered how tourists in Bolivia and ...
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States veromarcos... To Wyoming! The rest of the day's driving was really nice. Still endless fields of tater totlets but safely viewed from solid paved road they're much prettier. Then I cross into Wyoming and I have ONE more mountain pass to cross before I get to Jackson. Almost as soon as I begin the climb the snow starts to fall. I was driving pretty much just under the snow line all day long. I climb, and climb, and climb. I reach a brake ...
Jackson, Wyoming, United States chrissybz... lot of cars stoped: a bear with 2 smalls crossed the street, and went to the grass - -fantastic. Teton: needs a whole day. Trees have colored leaves. Lakes. We saw the Indians works in Colter, then the bushes of willows, the Dam on the Snake river, we drove to the summit of Signal - nice view, Jenny lake, old buildings - and Jackson. We found a motel for $93 - Anival , main street 307-7333668. There was an autumn art festival, so no places in motels, and we were tired.
Jackson, Wyoming, United States rivkapiWoke up at reasonable hour (8am). Looked outside- could see the top of the mountain! It was sunny! We were definately going to ski today @ Grand Targhee. Targhee is located on the other side of the Teton Range (to the west), directly over from where Jackson is. Took around 1hr to drive there through the Teton Pass (8,500ft high pass), on icy roads, with the sun ...
Alta, Wyoming, United States naejayHopefully car problems were a thing of the past, I got an early start making my way to the Mammoth Hot Springs entrance to Yellowstone National Park and the visitor area there about 8:10, only about 10 minutes from where I spent the night. And as I got out of the van I saw why they tell you not to feed the animals. There was a lady going up to an elk that was feeding in the area to give it something, but when she got ...
