After checking into our hotel and doing our laundry, Ron, Scott, and I walked down to the lake shore. There are 3 light houses and a cool bridge all in one location, along with some nice places to eat.My feet were really tired when we got back, but it looks like I will have another 10,000 step day today.
... too expensive so they started building the ships with bow and stern thrusters to do the job instead.
... we saw Common Loons with a baby and Trumpeter Swans (Travis and I got to add these to our Life Lists). The call of a Common Loon is by far my favorite bird call. Wee-ooo quee….. hoooo-lii!!! There was a seven mile driving tour that is nothing but wetlands and ponds on either side of the road. Our species list ended up not being very long but we only spent a brief amount of time at the refuge.
Just leaving Wisconsin, Lake Superior and the clouds behind. lookin forward to seeing my hometown in about 4.5 hrs'! Mara just got back in the car after getting some food on a store and said "The people are so friendly"...This is not NY, Baby! I'm ready for a hometown ...
... River. The water was clear, fairly warm, and beautiful. We rode 17 miles and did the loop through the entire park. It was very densely wooded and hilly. The problem was that if you slowed below 5 mph you were immediately consumed by thousands of mosquitos. Bill had at least 100 bites on his back and Suzy loved the hitchhiking army worms. YUCK!
