... only guest in my nine room hotel, it is on the ground floor, not good, it is only two streets from beach, which sounded good before I knew about the hurricane and the only other person there is the creepy hotel housekeeper who lives upstairs and I would not put it past her to be up there naked, dancing around, sacrificing some poor goat to the cheesy dip rain god and being the root cause of this bad weather. In summary MY hotel ...
Cozumel, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico john.boyd.123... our swimsuits. A short while later, I am out on the beach, sand between my toes, slathered in sunscreen, skin absorbing the hot rays of the sun. The ocean beckons - its turquoise waters and hiding coral reefs call to me. So I leave Mario to his watered-down beer and oversized novel, and I go explore. I should've brought flippers. The swim out was rough - the waves always against me, and the coral under foot prevented me from resting ...
Akumal, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico skyisblu... had drinks and lunch. Two beers, pop, water, Shrimp Taco and a Nacho platter - cost was $360 pesos. Beer was good and the food was good. This restaurant is right on the beach at Half Moon Bay. The view and atmosphere are great. While we were sitting there black clouds started rolling in over the water. What looked like funnel clouds were forming and then disappearing. It ...
Akumal, Mexico borealjk...
Akumal, Mexico ccheng... about worth it! :-) Now if my muscles would just stop aching and my mosquito bites stop itching, I'd be just fine!! :-)) From Cheryl: Well, Lisa's description does pretty much paint the picture of life on a conservation base! Early days, LOTS of hard work, a ton of learning, and lots of fun! I can honestly say that I never expected to be spending my (very early) 40's living a life like this but I can also say that I am glad that I am ...
Tulum, Mexico whatboundaries... planted ourselves at the Nuddy Beach Bar (formerly El Paraiso Beach Bar) and decided to forego paying for their fancy round beach beds - $15 for the day. Instead we took up a spot on the sand and stayed just a couple hours. The mojitos here are really good! We took a taxi from the Nuddy Beach Bar back to our car in the parking lot at Tulum and it cost $5 - so worth it! We went back to the ABR and checked into our superior room. It made a difference because we had an ...
Akumal, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico chanchemuyil... a real nice feel about it. There are not that many rooms (about 8 I think) and the colors are the nice pastel. There are two two-story units to each side of the restaurant. They look quite clean, and the rooms all have a spigot (that's water faucet for non-plumbers) outside each room so that the guests can rinse off their feet before stepping in. What a novel concept. Our food arrives. Chris ordered the Desayuno Americano ...
Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico austxdan... been in Tulum close to a week, and definitely appear to have relaxed and soaked in the Tulum "vibe". Since the honeymooners have already eaten at Mezzanine, we opt only for drinks, on empty stomachs. We'll go eat later. We all left together and try to get into Posada Margherita but they require reservations. Hence, we head down to Zamas. There was music playing, they had food, and of course more margaritas. I ...
Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico austxdan... it. They said a lady recently had been killed by such an eel in the next bay. It bit her silver necklace, and she bled to death. They described the eels as poisonous…odd. Probably it was the same eel Alan held his hand out to yesterday.

Paul and I had lunch at the little shack near Archway. All the local workers were eating at the same time. After a brief rest, we took the kids to the bakery, where ...
