    ... we arrived and before we left, I was able to take a few pictures of the Chinese Navy docked around the harbor.

    Our departure was delayed somewhat as we had to wait for one overdue passenger and an overdue line handling crew. It must be frustrating for those departments on the ship who pride themselves in efficiency to have to deal with shore side officials who could care less.

    Qingdao (pronounced "Zhing Dow") is a mixture of old of new. Old Qingdao is dirty and gritty. The new city is clean and shiny since it was built for the sailing events of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and it has many new skyscrapers. This is also an important Chinese Navy port - five submarines and various other ships were in port with us.
