Day 6...
Late morning train back to Milan. Dragging all our stuff to the train station was not fun...must learn to restrain those shopping impulses. We looked a bit sad at the station, two girls surround by so much luggage...oh well, tomorrow is outlet shopping in Switzerland!!! Train ride back to Milan …

Well, to start it off.. The directions the hostel gave we're ****.. But luckily I found my way from the station. It was a quiet little hostel and I was put into a room with a little Chinese girl who could hardly speak English. I spent my first day wandering around, gazing at the amazing shop windows and, without a map, found myself in the middle of the city ...
Väterchen Frost in der Lombardei
Freitag brach in Köln ein kleiner Schneesturm los und ich dachte mir, mal schauen wie weit man darin kommt... Erstaunlich, aber wahr, ich bin bis zum Bahnhof geschlittert, dort in einen pünktlichen Zug gestiegen, ein paar Mal umgestiegen, über ein vereistes Rollfeld spaziert, in einem nur leicht verspäteten Ryanair-Flieger gelandet und schließlich in Mailand angekommen. Irgendwie dachten wir, dass Mailand = Italien = wärmer als Deutschland und der Wetterbericht auch nicht so ...
First Stop
... by artist Elena Ballarini caught our eye. These are so masterful that they look like photographs! The artist’s father is the owner of the gallery and he spent time with us talking about his daughter and her art. Quite fascinating—check it out: www.wildlifeart.it. He was even kind enough to suggest a place for dinner and called in a reservation for us. What a lovely gesture and so welcoming.

...But Where'd the Turkey Go??
... thing I wasn't able to finish, though it was very good. I made sure to eat all of the ice cream since I haven't had "ice cream" since leaving the states, though I do get my fair share of gelato!
We left our three and a half hour Thanksgiving dinner feeling very full, very content and very thankful that we were able to have some semblance of Thanksgiving in Italy. It was a great time to just laugh, relax and forget that finals are looming in our near future.
