ok... so after 2 months of being P_O ed about not finding Lower Sigua Falls the last time (should have brought a map blog), Joe and I headed out again with a different approach this time... using a map! We bought a guam hiking guidebook and map to navigate through the trails. I can't say that either helped much because the entire hike is Guam's mother nature idea of an ultimate CF but we did get there eventually so thats the ...
Yigo, Guam guamblog... the day. The wreck dive visited an old American tanker that was sunk to help build up a manmade cliff wall but sunk outside of its proper position. It is really well preserved however my buddy ran low on air fairly quickly so this dive was cut a little short. Our drift dive however was almost 40 minutes and took us down to 70 feet. I spent about 10 minutes playing with a huge 4 foot Moray Eel that we found in a hole ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... of 2 dives.
SO, as you can guess my day started REAL early for a weekend. I caught a ride and left base to head to the downtown dive shop (about 40 minutes away) to get fitted for gear and fill up our tanks. We ended up with a big class of 8 people with myself being added as well as 2 people that did the classroom portion online. Gab Gab 2 was the first dive spot, where we took a short swim test as well as treaded water for a bit and learned the basics of setting up our gear ...
So, pretty much every hike Ive ventured on so far, we have accomplished without a map. Ive looked at satellite pictures, read travel blogs and used a gps to find a trail heading but being that adventurous does NOT always work to your advantage. Lesson learned. Hearing stories of a secluded waterfall on the south side of the island, myself and a friend started trying to plan a trip last weekend. With very limited information and the non-desire to ...
Tumon, Guam travellerhans... restaurant are indeed very cozy and stylish. My meatloaf was big, tasteful and juicy. Dr T was not impressed: his BLT sandwich came as a bacon MUSHROOM sandwich. Which was sent back. They restarted and indeed brought him a BLT, this time. The result is of course, that my meal was finished by the time T's arrived, which I dislike very much. Tomorrow, we go diving. We know it will not be up to the standard of the other islands but we want to dive Guam anyway.
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... We rented a car, and honestly a dozen hours was about all the time we needed. I was glad to finally see Guam (and finally be able to get a Chalupa Combo at Taco Bell!), but there are far prettier and interesting islands in this region to see...like Palau, the one we are flying to tonight! She Said: Hmmm...Guam....I would say skip Guam unless you have to go there to make a connecting flight. It's not that there is anything wrong with it ...
Tumon, Guam globedeckerI woke up Sunday morning about 7:30 a.m. after a 3 hour cat-nap. I was worried about my bag and my internal clock was all messed up. I was also STARVING, after my gourmet in-flight Japanese meal. We decided to play it safe and so we took a cab to...(insert drum-roll...) Denny's. MMMMM MMMMM. It was very crowded, there were lots of dads being treated to a special Father's ...
Agana, Guam joelleGuam was beautiful. I managed to go diving while I was there, and it was great. Rental gear and all, it was a great diving experience. I did not get much of a chance to actually visit most of the island. I remember even less of the island, except that it was really clear water.
