Lessons learnt:

We shouldn't have gone to Cancun and if you go to Cancun donīt stay at the Grand Oasis Cancun! Although we really enjoyed Mexico for the other towns we went to we really disliked Cancun. Every single person who served us at this hotel were incredibly rude. Our room stank of mildew and the hotel was half empty so we asked to change rooms and were told by Hector at reception that there wasnīt a single other room in the entire enormous hotel that they could change us to fo...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Grand Oasis Cancun

Honeymoon

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I stayed at the Grand Oasis Cancun for our honeymoon. We thought the hotel and beach were really nice but the food was not spectacular. The service was ok although checking in took a very long time. The room was nice and clean and had a great view. We enjoyed our stay but we do not recommend this to someone who is looking for a quiet vacation.

Hotel? Should have stayed at a motel 6

Took a vacation after school ended, booked the room through travel agency and everything went down hill. The staff were very rude, and always gave us funny looks. Had all inclusive and bartenders drilled us if they were real armbands. I will never stay at that hotel again. Limited restaurants and bars to get food and beverages at. Very deceiving place.

Awesome party spot

This hotel was awesome, the people were friendly especially David, Ricardo and Roberto (he's a hottie) the drinks were awesome and the night life in Mexico is the best I have ever experienced. The resort seemed to be aimed towards the younger crowd which was great, I had an awesome vacation and I would definately go back again. gillis_nicole@hotmail.com

Our Senior Spring Break!

from A TripAdvisor Member
About 20 of my good friends went down to the Oasis for our senior spring break in early April... We thought the Oasis was suppossed to be one of the nicest hotels there was. Well we thought wrong. The staff was rude, all they did was try to rip you off and the rooms were horrible.. It took about 20 minutes for anyone to get a beer they pretended like they didn't speak english... It was ridiculous next time im hauling myself to the ROYAL SANDS HOTEL!

Looks Are Decieving

This resort had by far the worst service and accomodations I have ever experienced. The staff was extremely rude, the food is terrible, and the drinks were terrible. I had the all-inclusive option and what a dissappointment that was. If you order a Corona they serve it warm out of a 40 OZ. bottle into a small plastic cup. If you order a daquiri they put a very small splash of rum into it. We found that they only way to get a good drink is to tip like crazy, so you might as well not have the all-inclusive.

Some people in my group went to the liquor store across the street and bought thier own liquor to make drinks in the room! There was a club in the hotel, I walked in there to check it out one night, not a single person was in there. If you are a native, they staff treats you like royalty. On a positive note the pool is great and the grounds are beautiful. Do not let them try to tell you to stay in the main tower, its not a good deal, its far from the beach. Stay in the buildings that are on the beach and demand an ocean front room.

The service

My sister and I were in Cancun on January 13th, 2002, for a week. We arrived around noon at the Grand Oasis...our rooms were not ready so we took a tour of the hotel grounds...very big and impressive. The meals were good...the italian restaurant was the best and the beach grill. The rooms were beautiful, we were lucky to get a top floor room with an oceanview. We didn't find the staff friendly or helpful. They were not in the least bit nice or pleasant, its seem like you were a bother to them...and this is right from the front desk to the waiters and bartenders. We also expected the staff to be younger and more friendly, because the other hotels along the Boulevard had much nicer staff. The only good looking friendly and helpful person was the animation person named Roberto. He went out of his way to please all the guest at the GRAND OASIS,OASIS HOTEL. They should hire more staff like him. We are coming back to Cancun on March 31st for one week and will be staying at the El Pueblito Hotel. Don't know what to expect, but from reading the reviews it looks like a good choice. Will let you know how it was when we back. Looking forward to 'CANCUN"

Cheers!!!!

Grand Oasis Wonderful!

This was a wonderful hotel. It was built in 1998 (I believe) so if you are looking for a brand new property you may want to look elsewhere. The hotel is in very good shape (it was recently remodeled) and has a certain amount of charm and character that some of the other newer properties lack.

Excellent Hotel

This hotel is great! The location on the beach is excellent, the food is great and the drinks even better. Hotel room is average looking but very clean. We went in December 2000 and are going back in February 2002.

This place is a dump.

my girlfriend & I just got back from this place, what a dive. From dirty run down rooms, to rude staff. I am so glad to be back home & out of there! The resort was overrun with drunken kids, the staff really don,t care about the guests & all they want to do is rip you off for US dollars.

Do not stay here unless you are between 18-25 yrs. old, you will regret it. It is a bad joke!

All inclusive no

from A TripAdvisor Member
we stayed at this hotel in October, the rooms are terrible, the food wasn't great although we were all inclusive we ate out quite a few times. The bar tenders were great especially ARMANDO he was just great. I wouldn't stay there again but I may try the grand oasis. There are a ot of nicer hotels along the hotel zone.
